Maybe he actually doesn't want to leave Gold Coast?

Or is holding out for more from North, knowing they have more to give if they want.

So he can go and live in the GC when his career is done, which will be sooner rather than later is he stays there. They're already trying to cut the list down and his is the first name squeezed out.

There is no objective standard players can satisfy to ensure selection. There is no appeals tribunal they can take their case to. At the end of the day it all comes down to the perception of 1 person (or Matthew Scarlett) the massive majority of which are failures who make their players worse (by the way).

How often does a fringe player actually change the mind of a coach? We're all familiar with the percentage of players who make it to 100 games. There is no science behind it. For a significant portion of those on an AFL list, my hunch is that it could be as high as 40% opportunity is basically the only factor in determining whether they end up with a career or not.

I've said it a million times but it is very hard to ignore 5 to 7 years of VFL players routinely outperforming their listed counterparts and not have that influence your thinking.

So basically, you're upset that a player isn't doing what you want them to do?

Upset? No not at all.

Bemused by the attitudes of players who shoot themselves in the foot would sum up my feelings if, for some reason, they are relevant.

I also wonder what advice these players are getting because the same error is frequently made. Like I said, we all hear about the stats of players who make it to 100 games being a small portion of players. It seems the industry is largely deluded about how they get there, as though there was some objective standard like an exam players passed to prove they met the grade.

How do we know he refused North? The media have made a claim that has zero direct quotes from anyone who would have an idea, until you see/hear direct quotes I'd suggest believe nothing at this time of year.

Well if GC has offered him to North as part of the deal for 19 and North has offered a deal, the deal hasn't been made (where all the other terms appear to be agreed) and it is being reported that he's turned North down, I'd say there's a good chance the reporting is accurate.

Admittedly, it's not something I can say I have a complete recollection of but my impression is that it is probably the norm that you do not see reports of trade offers and rejections accompanied by quotes.

There are bridges you do not want to burn and no real reason to officially confirm all the different wheelings and dealings, at least not until you want to start heaping media pressure. Given that the media pressure here would fall on the player, it's not really something GC, the likely source of the info/leak wanting to see if DM can be sold elsewhere, would want to confirm in quotes.

I'm just saying it may not be as simple as turning North down, which makes it hard to criticize Darcy until we know the full story (Which we may never get)

So according to Lore's sheet the Pies have 11 draft picks, they don't have 11 list spots, what do they do now?

Or is that rule a "Maybe rule" the AFL like to have.
The last 4 are irrelevant to them. They'll flip 41 for Lipinski in all likelihood and then turn Max Lynch into Krueger.

They have whatever picks they're entitled to atm.

After the second list lodgement date they will know how many open list spots they have (all primary list delistings have to be done by that date). The pick-only trade period goes a bit past that and there's a DFA period as well, so they can trade up or out or bring in players still at that point.

A couple of days before the actual draft, the AFL's official draft order will remove all of the picks that aren't available due to insufficient list spots and everything will move up.

Seems Kreuger is done, 41 for Kreuger and 55.

So it looks like they'll go in with 6/7 live picks.
6 I think, some of those points will go to the Dogs for Lipinski

I feel like the pies are going to try and get Lipinski via the PSD just by looking at current list

Pies currently have 35 on primary list and still 6 rookies so only have 1 list spot currently open. They can easily make it 3 by delisting 2 rookies (Begg and Keane)

They still havnt delisted or traded any primary list players (Sier, M.Cox, J.Thomas, M.Lynch)

Luke Dunstan a certainty to be at the bombers?

My perfect off-season:

- Dunstan
- Stengle
- Select Goater with pick 11
- Keep our 2022 first

Midfield depth, developing inside mid and a small forward to replace Mosquito.

Stengle is an interesting one. Surely we've had a look to see if we can turn him around.

Could Stengle play in the same forward line as Walla? The other question is should we be adding a potential cancer to our evolving club culture?
Yes they could play together. You would only add the player if you thought they would be a positive on the group. Young blokes that have made mistakes and learnt from them can be positive to culture.
