Damn, great effort by the girls against the reigning premiers.
We really were the better team for most of the day but just didn't take our chances.

We definitely need to see someone else come in for Sheriff, unfortunately she is just not an AFLW player. She was quite costly on a few occasions just not gathering the ball cleanly.

Hopefully Jaz is alright but geez didn't look great.

She decided not to get into any contests, she shouldn't play if she can't contest for the ball, she watched every contest so it was always 1v2 or 2v3 or 3v4 with her standing there with popcorn and if it went near her she fumbled it.... if you are concerned for your injury, don't play

She decided not to get into any contests, she shouldn't play if she can't contest for the ball EVER.

I don’t want to use harsh words to describe any person wearing a hawks guernsey, but she was not playing football today. Or the small glimpses I have seen of her last week. Petrified for someone with some size. Liability

Was a poorly umpired game.

But we lost because when we had domination in play we missed some very gettable chances .

It left the door ajar for a very good experienced finals side and they made us pay .

We probably beat every team bar 2-3 on that performance....so close yet so far .

Sheriff was best on ground round 1 before she broke her leg. She has talent, but shouldn’t be picked on name alone if she’s struggling back from injury at the moment.

On a side note - a guy at my cricket club said the Lions were 100% using the McClelland trophy as a motivator .
Not sure the connection but think his cousin may play for them.

Went to the Brisbane board. They are by far the worst winners I've ever seen. Really hate us after the mcleland

Fantastic EFFORT from us. Young team, first final as a group.

Brisbane are hardened.

We lapsed in the 3rd, they took advantage. Their run really stretched us.

Didn't get the rub of the green but kept trying until the end.

Almost all of our girls would have played multiple times at Ikon either for their former AFLW sides or Coates League / NAB champs.

Brisbane travelling interstate gave us a clear advantage.

I don’t agree with the negative posts here, that’s was an excellent game by our girls.

The Lions (who clearly have been the yardstick for the past 5 years) relied on a handful of cleaner passages and better conversion to fall over the line. After North, Brisbane are the best team in the competition and we very nearly rolled them.

We had the better of general play and I’m confident we will set up a PF against North when we host this afternoon’s winner….at Ikon Park again.

Yes, they would've played there, but we had no experience for our game on that ground.
We went far too direct as a result (did not use the space). In fact, i think we actually tried to use the space once all game.

I also thought we played well and agree with you.

I think the girls were not prepared to work defensively like previous weeks though and that was the downfall. First time all year wr never had anyone sitting loose in defence to rebound
