Man I hope this isn't the scoreboard channel 7 use for the men's. It's far too big. I don't need to see goals and behinds, just a total score and time remaining will do thanks.
I must be too old. I flipping hate just the total number. Luv the goals and points.

We seem bigger and stronger and more aggressive in the tackle

Went down to have a look. We are very, very good. I feel really quite sorry for those who don't see any value in the AFLW side, because we are genuinely as good a team as has ever represented the jumper for mine. Stars on every line, well coached and structured, and extremely slick

Ash Riddell is arguably our best pure midfielder and just doesn't get talked about. She is the equal of any of Kearney, Garner, Gavalas, Bruton etc. Her football brain is exceptional and when you pair it with terrific disposal and depth of kicking, I wouldn't be surprised if she goes past our other mids in a rush this season

Daria Bannister was unreal today as a pressure forward. That goal kicked by Eddey was all down to Bannister's manic pressure and physicality. If she is fit she plays every game for mine

Our backline is very very well organised. Extremely difficult to penetrate and they rebound strongly. Hardiman, Grierson and Wright are a terrific trio in terms of defensive pressure, and they're protected well by the rotating class of gun mids running around

Dais Bateman is almost unrecognisable with the bleach blonde hair and played a lot further up the ground than I was expecting. She has very nice skills and goes very hard for someone of smaller stature

Jassy was fu**en unreal. What a player. So ominous and threatening every time she's near it

Great day at the footy. So good to see footy live again
I agree but they need a premiership for comparisons to the mens teams. FWIW I think it happens this year.

Speaking of pressure, I hope Bannister can stay injury free this season, she brought a lot of it today and did some wonderful things with ball in hand. Probably should have scored a goal herself today but played the team game very well.

I wondered what the list managers saw in Daria before today but I am now firmly on board the Bannister Express.

Like FG I went and thoroughly enjoyed it. How good is it going to the footy!?! The girls were fantastic. Emma King was awesome in the ruck. She would have a chat to the midfielders at each bounce and then deliver it on a platter. Ash Riddell seemed to hurt her ankle right towards the end and came off, has anyone heard if she is ok?

Had the binocs on her after they finished working on her and she walked without a limp. I assume just a corky of some sort.

Wrong

How she plays/reacts to the contest and executes is why I don’t rate Wright

on the other hand for contrast you watch the other defenders Randall,Grierson and bresnehan they just react quicker to the contest make smarter and cleaner decisions with ball in hand

You are Wrong about Wright. She was very good today.

Emma King’s first half was one of the most sublime ruck performances you will ever see.
Ash Riddell is every bit as good as our higher profile mids. Our midfield must surely be the deepest and best in the comp.
Plus Bannister = Zurhaar

As someone else said, Geelong are a bit sh!t. St Kilda will be tougher next week and the real test will come v Crows/ Pies/ Freo. Bring on September. Or April or whatever.

Edit: kudos to Crock. As advertised, we are much better defensively than last year, but still potent in attack.

The Good
Pretty obvious. An incredible win off the back of blistering pressure, a lineup packed with talent and tight organisation.

The Bad
Being picky but we allowed them a few easy marks with ill thought out kicks. Better opponent might've capitalised. DGJ probably didn't have her best day at the office, a little flatfooted.

The Ugly
How nice of the umpires to mimic the AFL and start trying to nurse Geelong back into the game. HtB went one way in the 2nd half.

Mia King spent some time in the midfield as well, and she looked more than competent, her pass to Abbatangelo in the goal square was so perfectly weighted.

Daria Bannister was the surprise pack for me today. Just had a physical presence that helped to intimidate the cats.
Shout out to Mia King, Gilroy and Ashmore for great games.
And when ya 5th best mid (Gavalas) has 19 possessions and kicks 3 goals you're going ok.
Freo very impressive against GWS. To beat them we need our B graders like the above names to play well.

Daria was looking awesome in the lead up to last season before she got injured.
