Hey Captains of the Sweet Cricket Association!

As we gear up for the inaugural season, there’s one tradition we can’t overlook—afternoon tea! We all know that afternoon tea isn’t just a break in play; it’s a vital part of cricket culture. It's where players recharge, strategize, and share a moment together, and for some, it’s the highlight of the match!

We want to hear from you: What will you be serving for afternoon tea on game day? Whether it's classic cucumber sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream, or something with a unique twist to represent your team’s spirit, share your plans for the perfect spread. Let’s make sure the Sweet Cricket Association keeps this tradition as exciting as the game itself.

Looking forward to hearing your ideas and maybe getting a sneak peek at some delicious game-day treats!

Afternoon tea on the weekend was the choice of veg, chicken or ham sandwiches. There was cream biscuits and lollies.
The lack of cordial means it was a failure.

Though the Great Northern after the game was worth all of my 4 off 15overs
Personally I went all out this week and bought a packet of these two delicious sweet treats. In my defence it was 37 degrees and no one was really in the mood for party pies so I picked well.

The 8 Melbourne Schooners after the game made me forget about heat stroke and getting bowled whilst attempting a reverse sweep.

Arvo tea must haves:

Some sort of hot food (parties pies, sausage rolls etc)
Sandwiches (ham, cheese and pickles or mustard; chicken and mayo)
Fresh fruit
Home made baked goods
Icy poles when over 30°
Chips or shapes.

Reminiscing about afternoon teas I’ve experienced playing cricket I remember turning up to a senior match as a 14 year old and get to the 3:20pm magical time of afternoon tea to be greeted with a bucket of KFC, woolies lamingtons and a Gatorade saxophone that’s it nothing more nothing less. The kids were quickly escorted out of the pavilion area once the seniors in the side realised what was happening.

I was a fan of these for afternoon tea

except for one innings I had to go back out in the middle on a 38 degree day after over indulging the evening before.
I have pulled to the side of the wicket and the umpire and wicket-keeper ask are you OK Pugsley to which I respond I will be shortly.
I have gone the chuck chunder. Silly point was vacated for the rest of my innings.
