article about jamie sheanan assumptions captain the the herald sun today could he get drafted thoughts on guys who might get drafted from agsv this year?

Mentone have recruited a big backline player apparently, keir i think it is, tore it up in the praccy match, hard at it and skills as well. look out for him during the season.

Apparently he's been taken under the wing by someone they call 'chizzles'. Not 100% sure who he is however i am aware that he's credentials and his knowledge with reagrd to the 'inner-sanctum' of football are quite marvellous. It will be interesting to see how Keir goes? I'm told he's a smaller type player and a few years in the gym shoud help him with his small frame.

look out for mentone this year they are a much better chance than everyone thinks. wouldnt suprise me if they got up this weekend agianst a weary assumption.

ACK will not be any good untill they sack there coach Ray and get some players that dont think the sun shines out of his ass. The only reson they were once so good is because the old players coached them selfs. Any pass student / player from the years when they where good will agree. He is no wear to be see and doesnt wont anything to do wif his players when they loses. But if they win its a different stroy he wants every1 to know his the coach of ACK. The last cupple of years the players started to loss respect for him. If ACK has any brains they will give him the ass before they loss another season!!!!!!!!!!

yer the kid is a freak. i think he is easily good enough to get drafted, i guess it jus depends if clubs want him. not too sure about others who might get drafted. trentgrove from pegs, shuey, zaharakis from marcellin maybe stanton not sure. not sure who the pegs full forward and centre half forwards were but they were freaks too.

surely you dont need to know anything more about him you should get to know him pretty well judging from where your head is located in regards to his behind.

in regards to the _______ that posted bout assumption do u have any idea mate ray carroll is a very well respected man an for a w***er like u to say that mate maybe u shd give up wat your doing assumption has beaten pegs bendigo who were ordinary an apparently a trinity team who arnt to bad either. assumption also has a few injured players hill collis an mcmahon an are still playin gud footy i wudnt be takin them down yet mate theres still plenty more to cum by the looks of it

peninsula played camberwell away and won by about 5 goals. was quite a contest served up to peninsula but in end were too good. didnt play great either but did what was needed.

Yarra beat Ivanhoe by 11 points...

Interesting match with about 5 of the 31ish goals kicked at the scoreboard end, the other 26ish were kicked a the Hockey field end...

Keep that in mind lads when you play there... kick to the score board end with a spare man in the back line and try and hold the yarra boys in the first... come home with the advantage...

It may sound weird but 6 years ago when I played there last the same thing happened... it just seems to be the most scored at end, just like the RH side of screen at subiaco... the Heatley stand end at Princes Park and the club room end at Chelsworth...

so how do yarra valley look this yr any good ah heard off sum mentone boys assumption done them by bout 30 points was a gud game but they said garvey hawke an collis racked up touches with i tink mayb a new assumption kid nick or mick cussen playin well along with daniel tahlia but apparently assumption r doin everything right an are on track for sucess anyone no any more info on this game

YV will get smashed next week.
They had a close game with ivanhoe who are no good. ivanhoe got killed by marcellin rnd. 1

As a spectator watching my little brother tear the guts out of Yarra Valley here is their structure...

Their Ruckmen are dumb. Given they are tall but they don't know how to ruck. They have two positions you need to cover, their front left and behind the ruckman. Number 11 and number 2 are their go to men so cover them in the middle and you will be right. Number 11 is a sly one he starts on the LHS of the ruckman and goal side. He backs his ruckman to win the tap and he pushes off his opponent and runs on to the loose ball which is placed out to the front left as mentioned above and they are off. The alternative they have is for their ruckman to jump a little forward of the ball and tap the ball behind, that is where number 2 comes into play, he is bigish and tries to muscle his way out of there.

The way to negate both these tactics and win the ball from the centre is a really simple. Place a bloke goal side of number 11 and niggle him a little. Upon my direction Ivanhoe were able to negate his center clearances. They dont cover the change in their ruck tactics too well so as soon as number 11 swaps out of the middle number 2 becomes the go to man and he starts behind the ruckman. Just stick with a standard one behind one to the right of your ruckman and man on man with number 2.

As for the rest of their team there isn't much to right home about... number 7 or 9 thinks he is a bit of a tough guy but takes backwards steps from a loose ball when another player is baring down on him... the backs are not much chop in the air so play your best mark up there... Ivanhoe had a year 10 with the best set of dukes I have seen since Ben McKinley marking everything... doesnt say much for their backs!

Ivanhoe will never be as good as your Marcellins, Pegs, Assumptions and Pennisula simply because they dont go out there and purchase players like every other school does.

I also watched the Yarra Valley - Ivanhoe game. Fascinating match. At 1/4 time YV were leading 35-0. Then Ivanhoe kicked 7 goals to 4 in the second and were trailing by 18 at 1/2 time. YV then kicked away to a 48 pt lead at 3/4 time. Ivanhoe then kicked 6.3 to nil in the last. The YV midfield killed Ivanhoe. Great performances from Brunelli, Treloar, Kingsford, Baskos and Ferrantino kept IGS in the game. The last quarter was epic entertainment.

Well said, Chelsworthgale! And furthermore IGS were able to win the swimming sports (boys) for the second year in a row again without giving out scholarships for sporting excellence. They, in fact won about 60% of their entire sporting program across all age groups without buying anybody. Yes, they may give out scholarships but only for academic reasons.

As for the 1st footy team, they would be a lot stronger if they insisted on their better football players playing football. But they don't and nobody in the school community has a problem with that. Many are equally strong at soccer and that is why the soccer teams have been strong in recent years. A strong example of this was former IGS student Adrian Del Monte who has trained recently at Collingwood. He starred in the 1st soccer team but never played 1st footy. He would have starred if he had have played.

As for the current team they do OK considering the lack of Year 12 boys with prior First footy experience. Only half a dozen Year 12s would have been in the team last year. Their real strength will be in a couple years when the strong Year 10 and Year 9 contingent come through.

Fair point, but Marcellin also don't offer sporting scholarships and are a very competitive footy side.

mentone and assumption was a good game
mentone was leading in the last 1/4 until assumptions size and depth of quality midfeilders enabled them to run over the top. good debuts for blokes such as garside, garside, maitland, D brown. mentone can still improve, with some of the senior players quiet, yet george rowlands game on ball was pure heaven. the umpires also were terrible and should jump of the westgate on their way back to Kilmore!!!

Get down to the bray this friday to see marcellin annihilate a pitiful YV side. you will have the pleasure of watching the zaharakis and shuey show.

PEGS??? PENINSULA??? MARCELLIN??

anyone played any of these three sides? most likely top 3 with marcellin and peninsula fighting for 3. who are there key players? numbers? who should us as the weaker teams look to shut down to give ourselves a chance.
dont give oppinions if your from one of the sides..unbiased opinions?????????
