Trinity vs Ivanhoe

trinity won by about 70 points outclassed ivanhoe by along way spearhead up forward brown with 6 big ones best Ahearne year 11 good young bloke spaz hard at it all day tinney impressed as well as other great team effort by the boys all chipping in
 
ACK has never given out a scholarship before...
people attend the school because of its reputation and because it isn't stuck up and arrogant like the majority of the private schools in melbourne.

Exactly right mate.... our footy team doesn't have 15 tac cup players in it like other schools and has been so successful because every person who pulls on the ACK First XVIII jumper is representing the most successful college in school footy and is prepared to sacrifice themselves for their teammates.

This was on show in the game against pegs yesterday which was close until the last 4 minutes despite assumption missing at least 8 players including sheahan, mcmahon, prestia and talia.

giofagna was missing for ivanhoe which proved costly for the team, brunelli was their only decent player all game. trinity missing a few players (brooks, birrel) but provd 2 be a very good team with tinney the star

vital cog in Ivanhoe's A-grade extraction line up. Gianfagna, Ferrantino and Brunelli at the feet of any decent ruckman will win the ball 9/10 times... ask the Yarra boys about their extraction skills which ignited a gallant Ivanhoe come back from 9 goals down, twice during the game.

Also I think you are not paying young kingsford enough credit along with Riali... Kingsford dash is very wojinski in the way he gets it across half back and backs himself to run the lines... riali is a genuine ball magnet however his kicking is sometimes a little off the mark.

As for the "passion and pride" one, or even half a dozen return exhibition games a year is not what I was referring too. I was quite clear on that, constantly directing your attention to the fact that Assumption once had a VAFA side only for it to fold (merge) due to lack of numbers. Returns from certain celebrities to play exhibition matches or what ever is being described above does not mean that there is plenty of ongoing "passion and pride". Evident on going "passion and pride" would of saved Assumptions VAFA side yet once the money from their scholarships dry up at the conclusion of year 12 they head off to the highest bidder in search of coin.

As for First XVIII game I saw today... I only managed to catch a half of the Trinity and Ivanhoe match today primely due to a bottle of red wine last night...

Trinity are a good side. They move the ball very very well (unlike their VAFA side who were appalling today at Chelsworth). Couple of solid players in their side... number 18 and 8 (?) their main lynch pin is number 22. They seriously lack a ruckman and were exploited in that department today by Ivanhoe and were smashed in the center clearances. Their backline was very strong and their mid fielders pushed back quite well to help out.

I think their big ground was an advantage and a smaller ground would hamper their run a bit. Having not seen ass, marc and pegs this year I dont know how they will take it up to them but I would think they would give those sides a fair crack!

Once again your wrong mate adam clymo in the year 2007 was givin a scholarship to play for Ivanhoe footy team.... you obviously don't know much at all!!!!

What is wrong with Talia. I have not seen his name around all year. I thought since he wasn't playin TAC he must be playing school footy. I know he had an injury pre-season but I though he was over this. Also how did Melksham go for PEGS.

and what did he score in the compulsory aptitude test?

what you wouldn't know about Ivanhoe is they dont pride themselves on their sporting ability... they will offer scholarships to students based on their academic capacity, if they have good sporting abilities then bonus and they will utilise those by enforcing a "need to play football" on their scholarship or music or athletics etc, why wouldn't you?

But the main and deciding factor is their intelligence and this is purely to keep their results and standards up to attract the international dollar via their ELICOS program. This along with big capital expenditure over the next 5 years to upgrade and "refresh" the schools buildings and facilities, then throw in the fact that they are one of about 5 or 6 schools in the state that offer the alternative IB over VCE AND have expanded their co-education policy to ensure P-12 schooling and you will find their direction is attract the best of the academia world over the sporting talent... this has been evident way back into the early-mid 90's when they introduced co-education, IB and the ELICOS programs.

Sorry to dampen your little ego there little man but it may help you next time to know a little about Ivanhoe before you berate the school... keep fighting though champ! :thumbsu:
 
i find it hard how you people can sit on here and whinge about marcellin and assumption sayin they give scholarships an say they poach kids wat a load of shit. Last friday pegs played assumption an pegs new they wudnt win so the w***er ken fletcher had to go bring an afl listed player back to boost there team who pretty much won the game for them wat a joke why wud maric lower his standards to cum back to skl footy.ACK has neva given a scholarship an never will they battle with what they have its the courage they play with before you start talkin shit mate u shud find out the real facts
 
PEGS have always been liek that mate. There not a good football school at all.. they just know which players to buy to wack on a jumper and run around. Take away your cotchins, joyce's trengoves, marics, melkshams, di martino's and i rkn they wouldnt have won a flag since god knows.. Teams liek marcellin and assumption who dominate the competition without buying players are the teams i respect most. Ken fletcher is juts p!!sed off because he's son went further than him, and the only way he can even get close to professional football is by paying for players.. and then claims what a good team he has.
Too bad you cant win it on your own merrets ken

mate you don even know adam clymo they would have helped him through that test ivanhoe gave him a scholarship cuz they have an embarrassing team and shouldn be in the agsv... Even when they gave out the scholarship they stuggled to win a game.... don get me wrong though mate you know a lot ha!!!

Oh yeah the bloke who lives out Yarrambat way? Played footy down at Yarrambat and from memory went to the ivanhoe plenty campus... naa wouldn't know him at all... :rolleyes:

As for the "help" I thought that explained the teachers who were walking over to him during the examination whispering in his ear...

A lot of you youngsters really need to concentrate on the footy or perhaps year 11 and 12?! You all love to shoot your mouths off with massively bias comments without knowing how much certain people know on here, and additionally can divuldge.

For what it is worth a recent star "recruit" for PEGS was tossing up between scholarship offers from them and ACK... I'l llet you all stew over who that was... :rolleyes:

At Assumption you play for the school, the jumper and all those that played in the dark and light blue before us.

If I said the name Gerald Peterson you would neither be able to confirm nor shoot that down based on the fact that you dont know who he is, what years he attended or even if he exists! Such a pointless macho post, grow up young man.

The mere fact that I know of people on scholarships along with the fact they tried to out bid PEGS for the services of a certain PEGS recruit of recent years more than confirms it for me. It is a shame all the assumption attendees are blind to this situation... then again I suppose we should cut you little 16-18 year old passionate school attendees some slack since school spirit is clouding your view point! :rolleyes:

mate u seem to know alot about other skools so either u didnt play footy cos u werent good enough to a so called 'scholarship' or u just have know idea. ur arguements r pointless and ur out of luck at assumption cos the principle is a cokhed and i can tell u now that would b the last thing he would hand out.
 
is there any chance that we can start talking about something else apart from scholarships at assumption. if ur that keen to talk about it make a new forum and talk about it there for crying out loud. not here.
