Toast Alan Toovey

He does his job week in week out. Hardly ever gets the credit he deserves because he plays a negating role every week but really stood out today. One of the reason we're on top right now is players like Tooves, who are in our 'bottom 6' but still play damn good games, win the 1 on 1s and make an impact.

Hate to Admit this but he was Fantastic Today and Best I seen him play

LOL

He was awesome today. I'm not too good at seeing who's playing on who but I think Toovs was on Monfries. If so, he gave that little shit a bath. If not, he won all the one on one contests he was in anyway!

Thought he also gave us good run and used the ball well.

Why would you hate to admit that a Collingwood player played a fantastic game. Even more puzzling considering the amount of heart the guy plays with.

Still bitter that he took Blight's spot

Great game by Tooves, as I said, he's a "Mini Presti" in the way he defends, but he has the attacking side to his game that very few great one on one defenders have.

He is so quick with his first 2-3 steps also, almost Swan like, in that you think you have him beat, or are about to tackle him and then woosh, here comes Tooves.

Loved him ever since I saw him kick Andrew Lovett's arse in the VFL several years ago, now he's playing with the confidence of a premiership player.

Toovey makes us better, simple.:thumbsu:

Possum is awesome today, best game I've seen him played!

Did not put a foot wrong, accurate kicking skills, won all 1-on-1s and got us out of trouble time and time again, on ya Tooves and keep it up!

He was never going to win the Medal

But he was very very good today

The Football world should be disappointed that he didnt win it

as 45,000 yelling Tooooooooooooooooooooooooooves would have capped my day

No way should Tooves ever be dropped.

Ever.

Not so long ago I posted saying that this year Toovey would - like Dane Swan in previos years - incrementally improve to the point of becoming a genuinely great player. Got lots of LOLs and the rest. Ha, ha, ha wiseguys:p
Even on this toast thread apart from this post and maybe a cupla others he is being underestimated. I always thought he was going to be good but he is now playing at genuinely elite level. Will continue to improve and won't be long before he is rotating through the midfield. I'm willing to bet a case of beer that he'll be picked AA within next 4 years although has stiff competition in the side.

Same goes for Blair taking his game to a new level, it is scary how good this list is getting, starting to look hawthorn/wettoast/brisbane like or better, in their respective dominant eras oh yes and another team that won 4 in a row way back....

BOG for mine and amazed that a medal supposed to resemble the ANZAC spirit he didn't poll 1 vote.

Please explain.

People forget he is 6ft 3in inches tall. 190cms.

He can play on talls and smalls.

Harry O'Brien and Nick Maxwell are very out of form.

We need Tooves to cover until Maxy gets back to top form.

I thought he played a great game, very influential when he was involved in a contest to the point that I thought he was keeping us in the lead at one point. He didn't get enough of it to be in the votes for my likings but on an individual level I thought it was one of his best games.

Tooves was awesome.
A whirling, twisting, rubber-band man thorn in the Bomber fuselage.
He bullocked, when required, and finessed when desired.

Great game from the Possum.

ps. He also pulls off the full head circumference nose bandage better than that Carltoon front runner Judd.
