Not only are they far too late for someone as meticulous as Clarko as others have mentioned here, I can’t see Clarkson ever entertaining any job while the contracted coach is still in the job and a board in turmoil moving to remove the president with at least half the board being supportive of Brasher. I could be wrong but the way I heard it, was that Whateley was suggesting that Essendon might be too late to approach Clarkson's manager and he was saying something like, '12 hours, 8 hours, 4 hours too late?' and Kingy replied, '24 hours'.

Can interpret the 24 hour comment in two ways

1. They’ve missed by 24 hours with brasher moving today basically insinuating that the deal was signed yday, which isn’t consistent with the way he was harping on Saturday arvo

2. They will be gazumped 24 hours later after brasher resigns, indicating that all individuals will know by tomorrow. Announcement imminent.
