We originally wanted $5mill from the State Government.
Is this $3mill "on top of" that, or the "total" amount we will receive?
Which would effectively mean a $2mill reduction from what Labor previously committed to when they tried to get elected last time and failed?
Just curious.

When? In 2018 for the original concept, or for this new $30m concept?
I reckon (stand to be corrected) we tried to leverage the Feds for $15mill, State Labor promised us $5mill if they got in, Libs were pretty non-commital at the time IIRC.
Would have been $20mill in total back before the last State election.

Of course I am getting older, and onset dementia is possible :drunk:

Now please excuse me whilst I wheel my Zimmer frame to the bathroom :toilet:😷

Nope we never had the $15mil from the feds in the equation at the March 2018 announcement for version 1.0.

I thought the answer to how much was pledged by Weatherill was on page 1 or 2 but I found a post of mine on page 7 that said - Then the politicians in a bid to win votes committed for the election, $6mil by Nick X and $8mil by Jay and given $4m from the feds in July last year.

The $15mil feds money became a thing when they started granting $15m to several AFL clubs (Carlton, Richmond etc) and NRL clubs (Cowboys) in late 2018 and then in the run up to the May 2019 federal election (crows, sydney, brisbane).

These $15mil federal grants that started flowing in late 2018 is why we changed it from a combined Aboriginal accommodation centre $18mil ($4mil received in July 2017) + $17mil for High performance centre and second training area + Port Club upgrade + Williams Stand upgrade to a;

$30mil community facility with some high performance facilities upgrade + junior soccer pitch + Port Club upgrade + Williams Stand upgrade.

I found something I posted on a Footy Industry board thread, re election pledges and government commitments back in 2019, and Shorten pledged $5mil for the Aboriginal Centre of Excellence at the 2019 election. I reckon that's probably the $5mil Labor figure you have remembered.

KG was outraged that the only reason they lost out was because the other bid had more money, that's what happens in a bidding process you dumb ****.
And whingeing about the fact that the SA Government awarded the contract to a Melbourne based organisation.

Completely ignoring the fact that the Crows commercial partner for their proposal was the Melbourne based developer Pelligra.

Looks like they will have to go from one construction site (West Lakes) to another (Thebarton - part of the South Road tunnel project).

And to think that this all happened while the anti-Port Treasurer Rob Lucas was in charge of the state government finances and would have been the one who put the nail in the Crows coffin for this development. Karma!

The Brompton site, IMO, was never a realistic opportunity for them anyway. It was a slapped together proposal with some pie in the sky renderings all the while hoping to score the land at bargain basement prices (which they knew they would be outbid with). Thebby is, and was, the plan - Brompton was thrown in to show they 'wanted' to be CBD adjacent to appease the fans after the swimming centre fiasco.

Thebarton will be good for the Crows. It'll force them to become more community minded as they'll need to work with a heap of different groups to make it work.

IMO it's the worst case scenario for us.

Community minded in the sense its a 2 for 1 membership deal with the local Bowl-O? Not sure which club would have an older membership base tbh
