I'd put my money on the new stand being The Russell Ebert Stand.

When he passed away, the club said they would do something to properly honour his memory at Alberton Oval. Plus he was involved with the Bowling Club.

Really excited by the final planned upgrades to AO. This will now leave the club with the thorny question of naming at least two new structures. Firstly the ladies upgrade will be part of the MG High Performance Centre (or Allan Scott building), so no need for any name.
The next two are tricky as should we go old Port Adelaide (Magpies) or new Port Adelaide (the Power), so let’s say we go new Port as I think we have covered all of our greats from old Port.
The bowling green stand - The Travis Boak Stand - a captain & our highest game tally player with the eastern terrace stand being (you can now shoot me down) - The Cornes’ Brother Stand.
Just my two cents worth.

You have the Williams family stand, maybe the Phillips family stand? After Erin and Greg? Motley has the Race, Williams’ the stand, Quinn the Clubrooms stand, Ebert the Statue, Wanganeen the Stand at AO, FOS the SoO Best player and the Stand at AO also, Evans and Hodges ends?

Cahill, Tredrea, Phillips x2, Boak probably all deserve something in their honour.

You could name new structures, or existing (that don't currently have a name) structures, entrances, scoreboard, bars, etc after famous Port families. Some examples are:

Obst - Ken, Peter, Trevor, Andrew, maybe Brad!!
Ebert - Russell, Craig, Jeff, Brett, maybe Brad!!
Cahill - John, Darrell.
Tredrea - Warren, Gary.
Phillips - Greg, Erin.
Clayton - Bob, Mark.

Haven't factored in the Beltons, Marretts, Huttons, Wakelins, Tompkins', McKenzies, Dittmars, etc families, as they are a lesser echelon, albeit treasured by us all the same.

Motley family covered by the Geof Motley AO race, Quinn family by the Bob Quinn Alberton stand.

Maybe a familial "Walk of Fame" of inscribed pavers, or bronze plaques set in concrete paving when you walk into the ground.

Do we have the Nathan Lonie wing yet. Located behind the grandstand?
It's in one of the Seventh Avenue houses' lounge room.

That's about how wide he played.

Like it or not, he is going to ply 400 AFL games for us, a record that will be hard to break. Multiple B&F’s, All Australian Jumpers, Long standing Skipper and fair chance he heads into Football Admin post playing career. If we sack Hinkley he may get the elusive flag under Carr in 2026.

🤢

Graham and Kane wouldn't want their name on a stand at Alberton. Boak can have the 'most fittest' award named after him for BnFs

And why not ?

The whole point of Gather Round is to entice tourists from interstate.

There is not much in close proximity to Alberton that would interest people to go to before or after the game.

That is why games are held at Norwood so that people can go to the Food and Wine festival and go to the different restaurants along the Parade.

There’s even less in Lyndoch!

Alberton is not far from Semaphore, North Haven. There a few good pubs in the Port too. Sure beats the crap out of Mt Barker. Adelaide is a small city and everything is really quite close by compared to Melbourne or Sydney, so a bit of travel wouldn’t bother interstaters.
Yeah, I can definitely see gather games there.

Ebert, Phillips (x2) and Tredrea are obvious to have things at the club named after them. I'd suggest Boak could maybe have a water fountain named after him, maybe a kitchenette, and I say that as someone who is a genuine fan of Boak. We have an absolutely enormous history and there are some giants of the game who aren't honoured at Alberton through a naming. Boak is a fair way off.
