Why can't players play State of Origin and still play for the Kiwis?
The rules for State of Origin were that it's where you played you first game of senior club football I thought.
So what does that have to do with your eligibility for NZ?
Carroll could have played SOO and still played for the Kiwis. He shouldn't be allowed to play for the kiwis and then turn around and play for OZ.
And Brent Webb shouldn't be able to play for the Kiwis just because he's been living in NZ for 3 years.
That would make every NZer playing for Australain based teams who hasn't yet played for the kiwis eligible to play for Australia soon enough. What sort of BS precedents are we setting.
If you are going to get in on residency grounds then it should be something like 6 years minimum.
