I think the whole thing is a set up to disguise the fact that Pendlebury is really the main focus for GWS. Really if you had any football brain, you would go for a player who's ready to be captain and is a magic ball winner and creator for others, over a gutsy team player who does all the one percenters and a few flashy bits of brilliance.

Wouldn't surprise. Pendles wouldhave been offered big $$, I have no doubt. We wont get any decision before the CBA but the media will continue to dig because it 'news', even though they aren't really telling us anything new.

Bloody media just running with anything. Pendles recently said he wanted to captain the Pies one day, Media thinks "he is staying, who is next cab of the rank? Swanny might be too old, from what Sheedy has been saying, let's target Daisy"

As if Sheedy would disclose his actual intentions.

That's it for me in this thread until a signing is announced by the Pies or after the new CBA is sorted.

It's just rehashed guff.

Well that is good news. There where Rumors going around that he would Re-Sign Before the Season which sounds like it's going to Happen.

Pickers just on Fox saying watch this space Swan is staying at Collingwood and you'll see something in the next few days.... sounds long term as well... Certainly never said anything like that about Gazza!!!

Also mentioned doesn't think Pendles will go any where, future Pies captain !!!

I thought out of the 3 he gave the least promising signs of staying. Yeah he makes a fair whack out of endorsements down here, but I think it'd be foolish to think he wouldn't earn just as much as a representative of the GWS in Sydney. He'd have the same media personality and the same aspects of him that everyone has loved down here even if he went North.

I'm just trying not to get overly optimistic - I felt like Swan and Pendles were always going to stay, but Daisy has always had me worried.

All 3 will stay, I said it from day one, and it is finally coming to fruition.

We must have offered Swanny a pretty sweet deal for him to sign up before the CBA is negotiated, but then again, 3 Copelands in a row, and one in a premiership year, GIVE HIM WHAT HE WANTS.

Pendles was never going anywhere, and expect Thomas to "up" his promotions and TV appearances throughout this season and for the rest of his career, as the money he earns from that is majorly outside the cap, which means he is staying too.

It has to piss a little club like Geelong off that we have 3 players that are chased, and we don't lose any, yet they lose the only one GC went after.

sign away Swanny. Hopefully all three sign soon, we all saw what happened to the Cats last year with the Ablett saga, don't want that kind of shit disrupting our season. If all three are signed before round 15 or so i'd be very happy

I'm not sure Geelong would be all too fussed to be honest and I'm pretty sure GC chased after more than Ablett, with Selwood signing early to put away the doubts. Really it seemed like Ablett signed because of problems along with the money being offered. Bartel has also said he's going to re-sign with them. Ablett sounds like a one off more than anything else.

I would not be difficult to factor in any CBA anyway, which is what I would do.

Mike Sheahan, for all his infinite wisdom, believes that if we lock away all three, then they may turn their attention to Ben Reid. I mean maybe they will, but surely he is looking for a story. Are GWS this club just out to get Collingwood and just try to get someone from us? There are 15(16) other clubs out their with decent players - why is it that they would turn their attention yet again to someone on our list?

assuming all 3 stay, and no one else is up for grabs at the end of 2011, who then is up for grabs at the end of 2012 ?

and by then does it matter ? salary cap issues & too much player depth may start to creep in by then.
