All not lost for Dockers

Hi.

I just wanted to write this to all the Dockers fans out there. As a Geelong supporter I witnessed our thumping at the hands of Essendon in the 1989 QF (60 odd points from memory). We were a side that hadn't had much finals experience and some of our players seemed overawed that first week. The next week we played Melbourne (coincedentaly the same team you're playing this week) and beat them by around 60 points. With Hawthorn knocking off the bombers we had a re-match with them in the prelim where we trounced them by about 80 points to get the through to the GF against the Hawks.

The reason I'm posting this is that one loss doesn't mean you have no hope. Beat Melbourne this week (especially if it's a convincing win) and you're right back in the hunt. Your team have been good for the 2nd half of the year and if you can turn out in force and give them your full support this weekend then they should ba able to have a fair crack at the flag.

I am writing to you to request that i get a new present for christmas next year.Although i do like the wooden spoon i recieved this year, i would like to try and having a shot at the big shiny cup that sydney got last year, then i would have a complete set with which to mix up cake batter. We werent even given a chance to play for it. I know it is almost a certaintly that we wont be allowed to play for it next year either, but perhaps you can try.

Thank for your letter. In response, unfortunately Carlton already have 16 big shiny cups so we must instead turn our thoughts to another sad little team. They have to wear a silly purple oufit every week, have Yogi Bear for coach, and have never, ever won a single thing. Unfortunately, not even I can make their dream come true semi, because they will always be a bunch of pathetic little no-hopers.

fwiw. I believe that while the Dockers may not have a guy called G. Ablett running around the park they are roughly as polished as that Geelong side of 89. The advantage they have however is they aren't going to come up against a team like Hawthorn (of 89) at any stage in this final series. There are 6 sides left people and each one on their day could have a legitimate tilt. That unfortunately can't be said for mine or Santas team.
