Ryder said he cant wait to play,
if they have Wells, Burgoyne, Goodes, Ryder and Franklin
they could be bloody dangerous

It's easy to pick 30+ guys that should play in this team, but actually very difficult to pick A team. Had a quick go. I know there's a few playing out of position but this would be my team (everyone available)

B: Petrenko Varcoe Pearce
HB: Walker Dempsey Bateman
C: A.Davey Burgoyne (vc) Goodes (c)
HF:Hill Franklin Harbrow
F: Stokes Jurrah Betts
R: Ryder Rioli Wells
Int: Dick Thomas Jetta Lovett Murray

Very quick!! Most teams would struggle. Under experienced Tigers will!!

Tigers are going to get smashed off the park by the sounds of it, really stupid concept for an "All stars" side to play against a "B" team that is bottom 8 last season even with it's stars in (which aren't playing).

You would think for the sake of competitiveness that either the tigers would send their best side or the AFL would get the 'all star' vs last years top 4 side.:thumbsdown:

Not really fussed by the result of the game. We seem to be looking at it as a way to prepare for the game against Port later in the year. As for not playing some of our better player, lets not forget that the following week we have to front up against the Pies and Blues for the NAB games and I'm sure people would prefer us to put up a good performance in those games than against the All Stars in a game that means nothing more than celebrating the impact Indigenous players have had on AFL football.

I don't think the Tigers will get smashed at all. A few years ago Essendon brought up close to their best side and absolutely smashed the All Stars.

It all depends on who is available for each team and remember the All Stars are not a team that trains and plays with each other every week, Richmond is.

BTW its raining cats and dogs up here ATM, rained all weekend and the news is if it doesn't improve the game might be called off or moved.

Normally the wet doesn't really fire up until January but this years it started in November. Very soggy up here.:(

From all reports the tigers will be fielding their "B" team hence why I think they will get smashed, especially if the best possible indigenous side is fielded.

Years gone by the All stars didn't have much height up forward different story now days, Goodes, Franklin, Ryder, Jurrah, Motlop. They probably lack tall defenders still though maybe Micheal Johnson (freo) if allowed to play.

It's sad but these types of games are getting like the who cares cup, no club wants to risk any stars. So apart from a PR exercise it's really a bit of a non event as much as anyone will try and pump it up.

True. The talent that's being floated here is seriously scary though. I wonder if any team in the (minus their indigenous stars) could beat an All Stars squad that was assembled without restrictions.
Pies-minus-Wellingham would kill the All-stars in a legit match

You go through the all-stars, there's not all that much grunt & not all that much legit tall timber.
A lot of ball skill & pace, but any of the top 4 probably have as much anyway.

Bit of a pre-season hit-and-giggle, nothing more.

You mean like in 2003 (Carlton, 16th), 2005 (Bulldogs, 14th) and 2007 (Essendon, 15th)? Don't worry, it's only an exhibition/practice match and not on TV AFAIK.

It actually is on TV nationally. ABC IIRC.

Whether it goes ahead or not is another matter given they're apparently in a race to get the ground up to standard and both parties have concerns about it I read. If it does I can just picture a million threads on BF after we get smashed overracting over a mickey mouse game with less important than a NAB Cup game and saying how shit we're. :p

Bit lacking in defensive KPP isn't it. Would have to have Johncock in from the Crows - probably ahead of Petrenko.

First time it's been telecast outside the NT, then.
Was telecast into Victoria on ABC in 2009 (All Stars v Adelaide).

From Melbourne, you would think Jurrah and Davey would be All Star best 22. I expect at least one of Bennell, Wonaeamirri or N.Jetta will play because others will be 'unavailable'. Most likely Bennell.

Best All Stars Line Up
B: G. Johncock - M.Johnson - R.Hayden
HB: A.Walker - N.L-Murray - J.Harbrow
C: D.Wells - S.Wellingham - S.Hill
HF: C.Rioli - A.Goodes - T.Varcoe
F: L.Jurrah - L.Franklin - E.Betts
R: P.Ryder - S.Burgoyne - C.Bateman
I: Aa.Davey - R.Tambling - C.Dempsey - D.Pearce

Minus Hayden (Foot) and maybe Hill, J Bennell and M Walters to come in for those two. Oh and i dont think Paddy will ruck alone so J Griffen will play i reckon.
