Despite playing in 8 grand finals between them from 1971-1980, Richmond have never played Hawthorn in a final, let alone a grand final.
Olympic years:
2000 - Essendon have biggest win in round 1, premiers. Stewart Dew, SANFL flag.
2004 - Port Adelaide have biggest win in round 1, premiers. Stewart Dew, AFL flag.
2008 - Hawthorn have biggest win in round 1, premiers. Stewart Dew, AFL flag.
2012 - Stewart Dew, assistant coach for AFL flag. *Sydney had second biggest win in round 1, only falling behind Adelaide by 6 points.
I think he realised Melbourne had no chance, so he declined that job.1996 - the year before Stuart Dew's AFL debut.
Where's he gonna be for 2016?
In the 2014 finals, the winning margins of the four week one games in order were: 36, 24, 12 and a draw.
Disregard the Port Adelaide and Richmond game like many Tigers fans have already done, and we got our six point margin last night. All set up for a draw tonight now. We'll spotted! Actually, what I really meant to say was "damn, you beat me by about 2 minutes". Fibonacci would probably have something to say as well. Friday - 36; Sat day - 24; Sat evening- 12. The next number in the sequence would be 6, then a draw.
So the next one should be....Hawthorn's last two preliminary finals, 5 point wins with one less goal and 11 more behinds than the opposition. Hope it continues this weekend (preferably with a 15.17-16.6 win)
PF 2012: Hawthorn 13.19 (97) d Adelaide 14.8 (92)
PF 2013: Hawthorn 14.18 (102) d Geelong 15.7 (97)
In the first 14 years of the current finals system there were 2 teams to go out in straight sets, then in 2014 both teams went out in straight sets.
Two in a minute! And I thought Hawkins was good...I think one was born at 11:59pm and the other at 12:00am.
The US Open was also won in straight sets that week
Hawthorn won back-to-back premierships in 1988-1989 and exactly 25yrs later in 2013-2014 they repeated the achievement and this pattern continued on indefinitely.
Spoiler alert: I am from the future.
