Anderson or Savage?

We're not likely to burst through Fremantle's defences using power/strength all day long, more so we'll run though it or kick around/over it. For that reason I don't think we need another 'grunty' midfielder.

I think we need someone who can run/carry; run to make space; & rotate through HFF/FP, & Savage/Anderson will be better at that than Simpkin.

It's funny, when I think of making good space, rotating through HFF/FP, delivering well inside F50m & bringing aggression, the guy that comes to my mind is Jordan Lewis. Not saying I'd play him as SUB, just that he has the attributes that I'd be looking for, except maybe some speed.

Has to be Simpkin now.

Best impact as sub all year and now best afield for Box Hill.

Anderson and Savage we ok but no where near the same influence.

Just finished watching the VFL game, and i think Simpkin has to be a shoe in too,
was fantastic today and would make be a great choice for sub.

I think everyone loves Ossie but he hasn't played in the seniors since round 5-odd?

He is no chance this week.

He is not completely out of it. If Clarko and co decide they want a defensive forward ag on one of the Freo half backs Osborne would be top of the list. If Clarko decided that Ballantine or Walters or Crowley needed to exit the MCG early, Osborne would be firmly in pole position ;)

Hill was fantastic Fri night can't believe anyone would say they want him dropped, watch more closely!!!!
I think the Doc is a big chance to come in he was great today. He can play on one of their two small forwards so Stratts/Burger are not needed too. His kicking skills are great which is important against Freo as we need to hit our targets when chipping the ball around or we will be under huge pressure.
I think this is where Sav will struggle a little as his kicks are slow in the air.
I think the coach will pick Ando and I'd be happy with that also

Brad Sewell should consider himself very lucky that he has a solid finals record. He was terrible v Geelong yet again, and could not quell Barcode is the end which may have pushed the contest to a draw. Still believe he is a liability. Hill struggling on the big stage and whilst he hasn't played as many games I think Anderson is a much better player. Simpkin is a much better sub than savage and deserves it overall. Savage given many more opportunities and will learn more from missing than Simpkin

My unrealistic ins and outs.

Outs: Sewell, hill, whitex
Ins: simpkin, Anderson, savage

What will happen because our selection committee don't have the balls

In: savage
Out: whitex

KOLOKOTRONIS
What happens to people this time of the year?? Getting a bit excited too many beers im not sure what it is! Brad Sewell's game against sydney was out standing as waas his 5 or 6 games beforehand, and you want to omitt one of our 2 best gut running mid against a side where lines need to be broken? Hill was one of our best on fri night and you want to drop him?? Either your taking the p**s and after a reply like this which you have got or your drunk of have no idea about footy!! Hodge, rioli , Roughead, and others were down on fri night to lets get rid of them all! We have only lost 3 games right? thank god you are not part of the selection commitee

It's not going to be Oz, he's got a shoulder injury and would end up being a liability in the GF.

Anderson is one of the few that can kick hard & flat & accurate (Hill is the other, why is it the boys lose this ability when they've played a few seniors games?) that can change the tempo of a game and can stick a tackle when it's needed.

Make it so Clarko.

Ando, Hill and Rioli in the same side...I like it.

Simpkin is the safe option, Anderson is the exciting option. Both more than worthy for the green vest.

We already have so much of what Simpkin provides in that team though.

Considering all Savage, Anderson, Simpkin, Duruya played full games today - with a 6 day turn around whoever comes in will be the starting SUB.

Question is who can give us immediate impact coming on at 3qtr time (injuries permitting) in a tight contest..?

Anderson has already proved that he can have an impact immediately vs Swans 2 weeks in a row! The fact that he may be classified as 'inexperienced' is irrelevant as most of the Freo side are in the same boat!

Savage has GF experience, has run and a booming kick and a good mark for his size! Showed last week in the VFL prelim what he can do!

Simpkin is an honest work horse and has also showed at times during the year that he can come on as the sub and get involved straight away... With a B.O.G performance today will surely be considered.

Duruya is the most unlikely to come in, only chance is if Goo doesn't come up from his corkies/niggles but you and I both know nothing will keep Goo out of the side 2 GF's in a row! ;)

You'd want to bring a settled side going into the grand final...minimal changes only. With this in mind, Anderson to come in for Whitex.

Watched the VFL grand final today and Anderson and doc are best suited for contested footy and it should definitely be out of those two.

Savage isn't suited to contested games...can go missing when he going gets tough...

Dunstall said on after the game they had a player in mind, and he had limited minutes in the VFL GF. Looking at their stats, I'd be inclined to say that was Jed as he only had ~11 touches

+1

Puopolo (did nothing again), Whitecross OUT
Anderson (pace and grunt), Ossie (nasty and experience) IN

Make it happen Clarko and stop picking Pup in big games, he's not up to it!

Love to see Ossie walk up to Crowley at the first bounce and say "It's my last game of footy today, be nice to Mr Mitchell or we'll have a problem"

absolutely, I agree with yo ... wait, what!?

I watched the first half only - saw alot of Ando and Simpkin, less of Savage, least of all was Doc. Ando did get a bit of ball in the first half so perhaps had less time after half time. I think Doc was just not getting to the ball but could be him also.

Doc played the full four quarters. If Dunstall isn't trying to play mind games, I doubt it will be Duryea. I think Anderson and Savage were fairly heavily rotated by Box Hill today.

I was at the game today. Anderson has courage. Not saying the others don't, but he commits to acts that make you (and the opposition players) remember him. It reminds me so much of Rioli in 08, but he's a different player. There's a spark and an innate feeling that he belongs, even at his young age. I say we give him a go.

Geez Anderson has something about it, a bit of x-factor which is something we could really use in a granny, he is also as tough as nails.

Simpkin was great today as well, he is a good honest battler and plays terrific as the sub (as seen earlier this year)

I liked Ozzys game today as well stepped up when it counted, and he doesn't get intimidated by the big stage either, but wernt they saying on the telecast he has a shoulder injury.

Anyway assuming they are all fit it will be a damn hard decision, glad I dont have to make it :)

Ah well thats not accurate Dixie!! Doc was lucky to play 15 mins in both the first & 2nd quarters. Not suggesting he is the chosen one but had very minimal game time in first half. I was keeping a very close eye on him!

Just glad I don't have to make this decision!

Feel for the Hawks listed Box Hill players thinking they might have a chance, won't get to celebrate their win today as much tonight :p

Savage can run with Hill or Mundy, just don’t expect him to get any ball if he is used as a tagger. He was dropped for running past the contest/ball a number of times in the $wans game, when he could have impacted the contest. Savage hasn’t got the balance right of finding it and stopping the opp player, so we either take the approach that he can limit Hill or Mundy’s pace, which Shiels can’t, or we let him off the leash and use him as a runner. I don't think he's been forgiven for running past the ball !!

Anderson, he’s hard, has enough pace, skill, but is he fit enough to run out a final if we get an early injury. Hardness should never ever be under estimated in grand finals.

Smipkin, sorry, for mine he hasn’t the pace or skill set, he is a very good vfl player and that is all. I would delist at seasons end, He is just one of those unlucky ones where he is just a little off in every part of the game, size, pace, skill.

Ossie, yes I’d love to see him run through and annoy and even whack an ump or three. I also don’t know why it would be his last season; he’ll give us more depth than some 18yr old kid at pick 78 in the draft. It all depends on him. Same with Goo, why retire, unless he has had enough. Experience big hard bodies that aren’t eating our salary cap are priceless. Esp. now when we do have players like Duryea who can take Goo’s spot, but Goo is there if the long season takes a toll on the kid. This is what you strive for when building a list!!

Duryea, his foot would be great against the Lyon flood/zone/press, esp if they tag Brich out of the game. Plus he is hard and tackles really well. He adds to one area where we are a little weak, small forwards. It also frees up Burgoyne to go into attack mode, which won us the game against the handbags and set up the big win against the $wans. But as a sub? Yea as a sub, Bailey out when his knees have had enough, Duryea back and Burgoyne freed up, sounds like what we’ve been doing, and it seems to have worked pretty well. And if we get an injury it works just the same, unless it a tall.
