We've had decades of first home owner grants initiated by governments of all colours and at no stage during those decades has housing become more affordable.
Yeah they're just adding to demand. The real solution is to reduce price through removing investment incentives on existing housing.

Change it to only housing types that are needed in each region or suburb.

Multi-family housing blocks close to public transport mostly.

Detached housing in outer car-based suburbs is a cancer on our cities. It blasts out carbon emissions at a great rate, promotes isolation, reduces walking, promotes ill health.

The polls showing support is waning for the ALP in Queensland. Good time to get out and let someone else try and wrestle the numbers back (or, more likely, let them become the new opposition leader).

Resolve Strategic: LNP 37, Labor 33, Greens 12 in Queensland

YouGov: 52-48 to LNP in Queensland

I'm tipping Shannon Fentiman to take over, she looks the most competent out of the ministers.

Lumbering her state with the Olympics will probably be her ultimate legacy.
Hopefully the new premier will scrap it in favour of housing, health and infrastructure rather than spend billions on white elephant infrastructure and junkets. Doubt it though, too many parties and trips in for pollies and contracts for donors.

Another pandemic Premier bites the dust, there will be a party in Queensland tonight! Now all her successor needs to do is have another look at the cost of the Olympic Games that only one city in the world wanted. The budget blowout could hit 8 -10 billion by the end of it. The Gabba should not be bulldozed, just reconfigured for the games, they need to re-assess the whole thing. She knew her time was up, Brisbane is in big trouble in the next ten years unless someone up there opens their eyes.

Agree with most things but the Gabba has to be bulldozed… its third world standard as it is now

Lol wut?

When no-one else wants an event then surely you are in a strong position to say "ok, these are the facilities that we've got, so this is what we are using."

It’s due to have the dozer through it anyway.. it’s probably not the best location for it but seeing though they decided to put a railway station next to it it’s where it has to be.

There's no reason a stadium has to be there. The railway station will get plenty of use simply from the high density they're putting in the area. There are other railway stations that could fit a stadium near them.

And no, the Gabba is not "third world". Lot of concrete, yes, but it's a perfectly fine stadium.
