Has there ever been a player to play 300 games and have such a low profile as Adam Simpson?

Getting to 300 means he is in the absolute elite bracket of footballers, but who is he? Even as captain he had next to no profile.

His name only popped up this year because of the chicken incident, otherwise you would never hear anything of him.

I just find it a little odd in this era of media saturation.
Good effort by him, regardless.

People who were old enough to watch finals in the 90s - I realiase this discounts the vast majority of the hawthorn bandwagon - would certainly have seen in a prominent places.

Lifting two premiership cups for example.

Just because he's not a media whore doesn't mean genuine football people don't know who he is.

It is astonishing how much trolling and bagging out Simpson has received on here in the last couple of days. Credit to the mods who have managed to delete a fair bit of it.

Great effort from simpson, great player.

I would say if you haven't heard of a player who has played 200, let alone 300 games, then you have NFI about football.

Well said.

But really, you could take that down to 100.

Bloke plays five seasons and keeps getting a game and you haven't heard of him, then give it up.

Back in the dark ages a bloke called Garry Foulds played 300+ for Essendon. No disrespect - we would all love to play ONE game for our team, let alone 300 - but I reckon Garry Foulds might have managed that feat without once finishing top 5 in the Bombers B&F. I am sure he was never AA.

I am sure someone will let me know if I am wrong.

I have always described him as the ultimate anonymous 300 gamer. Perhaps that's a bit of a complilment in its own way.

you're a moron. how much do you know about this not-so-random selection of 200 game players:

Ken Newland (GEE): 216 games
Stuart Magee (SOU): 216 games
Alan Gale (FIT): 213 games
David McLeish (SOU): 213 games
Brian Mynott (STK): 210 games
Fred Elliott (MEL): 209 games
Kevin O'Neill (RIC): 209 games
Mark Tandy (SOU): 207 games
Don Williams (MEL): 205 games
Wally Donald (FOO): 205 games
Russell Renfrey (GEE): 201 games
Ted Pool (HAW): 200 games

Thats not what this is about.
I have been watching footy for 40 years - I know who Adam Simpson is.

The point I raised was more about the level of his public profile in relation to his longevity in the game.

AA in 85 for Foulds.
