Re: Rocca to contest the 1 week

Yes guys hope he gets off,but seriously what's happening to this great game of ours, the tribunal is too inconsistent,so what will happen i reckon is that he'll probably get 2 weeks.Shite !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe we should have accepted 1 week and moved on.
Still i hope he gets off.
I still remember 2003 ,he got reported missed the grannie and the rest is history.

Re: Rocca to contest the 1 week

Whilst I don't care one way or the other whether he gets off or not, he DID have two other choices to shepherd. He could have just simply used his arm to shepherd, or he could have also tackled him. There was absolutely no need to do what he did. The head is sacrosanct, he is a BIG boy, and it was unnecessary contact to the head. End of story!!

Re: Rocca to contest the 1 week

Rocca will probably still get the week. He's gotta remember what happened to his now ex teammate in Blake Caracella when he was hit in the neck and was forced out of the game due to that injury. That's why Rocca was cited on video because it looked like that he made contact to Dempster's head.
Round 1 five minutes in and Luke Ball is cleaned up by Matthew Whelan in a shepherd with contact to the head. He leaves the field with blood streaming from a wound and misses the next two weeks with a concussion. Was Whelan suspended? No because it was deemed a fair hip and shoulder with accidental contact to the head. Care to comment?

Re: Rocca to contest the 1 week

The actually citement I think was for front on collision (I think), though I have only seen stills in the paper of the incident, it looked more like Dempsey was half falling over and colided side on with Rocca who didn't move too much and had his elbow tucked in.

Free kick for high contact I'd agree with but it's anyone's guess whether the tribunal lotto will hold up the 1 week suspension.

I don't care if we play Collingwood at full strength or not. We play them next week ready or not.

Re: Rocca to contest the 1 week

They have no backline already so the full stregth rubbish is out!

He hasn't played two half decent games back to back all year,so we can handle him. Face it, it's Collingwood he'll get off .Prepare for him.

Re: Anthony Rocca: 1 week .....

I think it's pretty safe to say that Rocca WILL play, the tribunal has been nothing but consistant this season in overturning decisions. And so it it should in this matter - there was nothing in it against the actual rules of the game.

the tribunal just turned down eagleton's appeal, so perhaps they are in an unforgiving mood...

Re: Rocca to contest the 1 week

Appeal got thrown out. He's going down for 2. What were they thinking?

They weren't thinking. Collingwood people are incapable of rational thought. Serves them right too. The whole judiciary system would have been the laughing stock of professional sport in this country had Rocca gotten away with his offence. Justice has been served.

Rocca gone for 2

Saw it on the Collingwood site!!

Look it is good for us! Even though people would want to play Collingwood full strengh just so there were no excuses!!!

We have to win these games and it's just a bonus! Dawson might get a game :) Joking his time will come....

We have plenty of people out as well!

If he got rubbed out for that it is indeed a sad day for football as we knew it. RIP Aussie Rules - the only 'sport' that has immedatiately bought in a rule to counter a case of paraplegia that happened in the 1970's.

People are making absolute fools of themselves over this issue and you sound like the biggest dill of all with this statement.

The AFL is to be applauded for protecting the heads of players in the face of cheap shots from Internet wannabes who think nothing of player welfare, but wouldn't even contemplate taking any hit harder than an extra shot of caffeine in their latte themselves.

Rocca got what he deserved and no amount of whines about MRP inconsistency will alter that.

The Swans player was lucky to come out of it okay and Rocca needs to learn how to shepherd within the rules (ie. keep the elbow in hard and lead fully with the shoulder).

Elbow tucked in ball 5metres away
Notice knees bending causing head to get hit

Its a fair bump/shepherd that hit his head unintentionaly
Free Kick nothing else
Bad decision bad for Football

Oh please.

Apart from the ball being within 5 metres you can't argue any of the other points from this still photograph coming at the end of the incident.

Rocca's arm has been moved in by the contact and the Swan's players knees are obviously going to buckle further on point of impact.
