And how was their reaction?
Disagreed about my take on Cardone (fair enough imo), but was pretty receptive all things considered. Was a good conversation, he appreciated my passion and some of the views I’ve shared in past.
This section of our interaction has stuck out in my mind the most though:
The idea of the board being entirely elected by the clubs members isn’t a horrible idea but it just wouldn’t work in practice. Port Adelaide is more than just a football club, they have so many different sub branches such as the Power Community limited program and etc etc, having community elected members takes time and effort and will not be the right way to create a board that runs a company.

Thanks Fizzler love your work.

Community elected members .....dude doesn't get it. Symptomatic of those currently in charge.

Members are not going to elect a board full of Darren's from Davoren Park . The vast majority are going to be exactly the same as they are now experienced business people. Might even entice out some people with some genuine skills and passion for the club.

The difference will be there will be accountability. Not Kocks fiefdom.

I love all the anti-Member controlled board arguments that are super well thought out and considered and offer more member control but not a majority.

And then you can just point to the fact that something like 17 of the last 20 premierships were won by clubs with full member control and it all completely falls apart.

They think Port supporters are dumber than supporters of other clubs.

It may have been brought up at the AGM.

The problem is those other clubs may have an core of voting members that understand what the powerbrokers are trying to do and the gaps that need to be filled in the board and in good faith could vote appropriately in line.

If we do make a change, I can see a not-insignificant influx (1000-2000 members) of spite voters who will try to actively vote against the interests of the current board to either tip scale and make their positions untenable. Can you imagine the amount of work that would have to be done to whip up votes for a board member to be outdone because Doc or Alyx posted a well-timed spicy meme on BF?

It would go completely against the trend of insular thinking, jobs for the boys, and chasing casual support through stable performance that has lead to pushing Port people out of the club. I don't think it happens unless the members make it happen.
