Well the loss today has made it easier for me. We've missed out, and with the pathetic Demons being beaten, it just drove another nail in the coffin. Every one of our top 8 competitors ( ok maybe not dockers) won this week and we needed a win to stay with them. I would be VERY suprised if we made it.

Of course there's still hope!

Ess & Syd, and WCE & Freo both play against each other this week. Unless both those games are a draw, if we win we'll go on equal points as two of those teams and should go above them on percentage.

The last round is a toughie for us, but Freo play St Kilda and WCE play Melbourne.

So don't count us out yet. We're still in the race.

We must beat Western Bulldogs, then (assume we lose to Brisbane)

then...

If
West Coast beat Fremantle
Then Fremantle must lose to St Kilda in Round 22 @ TD.

Fremantle beat West Coast
Then West Coast must lose to Melbourne in Round 22 @ Subiaco

If
Essendon beat Sydney
Then Sydney must lose to Richmond in Round 22 @ MCG

Sydney beat Essendon
Then Essendon must lose to Western Bulldogs in Round 22 @ TD

------------------------------

Sydney and Essendon's lighter round 22 hurt us, best chance would be West Coast and Essendon winning this weekend IMO, or then again we could win at the GABBA.

Neither Sydney or Essendon will lose in Round 22.
Basically, we must beat Bulldogs and Brisbane.
Say a prayer.

I know I am dreaming here, but with Richmond Vs Sydney at the 'G' in Danny Frawley's last game as coach, with rain bucketing down you just never know...

By the admission of some of our players (in interviews etc), we looked out of it before the Swans game, then were suddenly back in after the great win.

Doesn't sound to me like there was a lot of confidence before that game, that we would beat St.Kilda and Brisbane.

Sounds like a WET dream to me. On the flipside, the shame of the wooden spoon (if they lose to Hawthorn next week) can get the Tiges fighting fury happening as they did at the SCG earlier on this season.

Nathan G.Brown wouldn't want jibes coming from Dogs fans if the Tiges won the Wooden Spoon.

Of course there is hope, because I will be at the Gabba in Round 22, leaning over the fence cheering the boys on, and slagging every Brisbane player off until I'm blue in the face!

Seriously though, I can't believe people are conceding the Brisbane game so easily. I sure as hell hope the coaching staff and playing group aren't doing the same. If you want to be a serious contender, you have to go into every match with a belief that you can win every match, and a game plan to achieve this. Bloody Wet Toast beat the Lions at the Gabba a couple of weeks ago, so in Round 22 with a finals spot on the line, why the hell can't we? The Lions arent in peak form at the moment, and have been exposed on occasions. But nothing surer, if we go into the game already mentally beaten, we will get done by Adelaide proportions.

I recommend anyone that can get up for the game, come up and cheer the boys into a finals spot with me :)

Let's hope for some tired bodies and a couple of reports from Brisbane's game with the Saints this week.

Don't really want a St. Kilda win though.

My head says "NUP, no chance", but I'm hoping for a win against the Dogs like last year's round 22 win over Carlton, followed by one of those stirring Roos' performances we've become known for, resulting in a nailbiting against the odds victory over the Bears. Very unlikely but, YES, still possible..............................ever so slight though it may be.

If there is room in your football fantasy, twinkletoes, I may just jump on board.

Sounds just about perfect to me.

Mine continues tho:

...having snuck into the 8, we then proceed to put it all together...Rocca magnificent and Petrie finds a home at CHF. Archer and Stevo do annouce their retirement, both taking up coaching positions at Arden St in 2005. The GF against the Saints is their final game for the Roos. Scores tied with 30 seconds to go, Archer out marks Gehrig passes to Stevo who runs, handballing to Wells who waxes off to Motlop. Siren sounds, Motlop scores! Another flag for the greatest club!!

After the match, Laidley says,

"We may not be the most skillful side in the league but we have heart and that is what it takes to win a flag!!"

Yeah, I know what you mean, it IS a fantasy. As I said, "My head says 'NUP, no chance'". My answer to this thread was to the literal question of "is there ANY CHANCE ?"................................

It's actually right now that we pay for the Bulldogs last quarter, the Blues game, and the Adelaide loss. We win those three and we'd be looking good at 13 wins with two to go.

In my footy fantasy we go through from here on into September undefeated, defying the odds the whole way through.
