Huge congratulations to the St Kevs scholarship programme. Without this, they would have lost for the next 13 years

go suck a lemon you stupid rube. everyone knows xavier have given out their share of "drought relief" over the years except the twats at the school who can be liked in their naivety to the Hitler Youth. From what i've heard your old boys sabasado and tarrant were on them so there's two big names for you. also run your eye over half your hockey team. And can I point out that the only blokes on a scholarship in that team were Conway and Salopek- both of whom bleed green, gold and blue mate. Why do you think they play with such passion and intensity? you can't buy that shit- only their talent.

yeh it was very poor form from xavier but what else can you expect?

tell you what that conway knows how to box on

Must have watched a different game to me footyfan, I thought Wallis was held but certainly showed a touch of class and great vision through out the day, I thought Libba had a better day. Conway is very lucky, he swang 2 massive right hooks which didn't connect in seperate scuffles. Don't know what gives you the impression he can box when he cant hit a bloke less than 1m away. Thought he had a good game but needs to watch his aggression, work harder without the ball and give it off to players in a better position rather than try to kick freak goals every time. Personally I was more impressed with young Gleeson, could build a side around that kid in the future.

fair call. that kid played well against wesley whilst not dominating he took great overhead marks and looks like a real find!

wesley defeated geelong grammar by about 40 points. does not reflect the closeness of the game though.. geelong lead by 8 points at half time and were very strong but wesley kicked away in the 3rd to lead at 3 quarter time by about 10 then ran away in the last once again. seems to be a real occurrence with wesley running out games better than other teams.

i also heard that alex keith did his AC joint yesterday for Grammar??

conway did connect which sore him sent off.

certainly could have been a worse hit, was glancing rather than square in the jaw. his reaction was understandable with the cheapies his opponent was throwing behind the play. dyl needs to keep himself in check more though- mind you i doubt you can judge his timperament based on a xavier game- brings out a different side in all involved.

are you serious mate? gene is a gun, attracts the number one tagger each week which shows the respect he gets from other schools.

does everyone think that wesley have it in the bag? or can skevs get up and take it from them?

skevs can't lose another and wesley have to lose two (because of countback) for the trophy to be held by skevs for the second year in a row.

He is a genuine future prospect, him and lachie hunter were standouts in the loss to wesley, and played well against Xavier.

Conway was copping major flack treatment from the Xavier back-men throughout the first half, so it was understandable he would snap sooner or later...but he showed his prowess on the scoreboard bagging 5, however.
Wallis was tagged throughout the game thoroughly, but libberatore started to shine in the third and fourth quarter.
Didn't see much of Golds from Xavier throughout the game however, had a couple of good moments in the first half, but not much else.
And on the topic of scholarships, salopek and conway are the only ones on scholarships, and conway (im pretty sure) was eager to come to SKC before hand. And as edar said, they wear the green and gold with pride.

I think there are two stand out teams in the comp at the moment, WC who might be the better of the two and GC who haven't got much of a gig on here both undefeated GC only behind on points because they have had a bye. I think one of these two teams will win the comp

bit early to say. skc still an outside chance, but would need things to go their way. however these two schools (WC and GC) are certainly in the box seat at the present time.

yeah true, I think the team that wins this is only going to lose one or two games

Wes Wes have it in the bag! WC and SKC are the two best teams though, GC always start well then fade...fade hard
Gc has only really beaten one good team and thats caulfield, the others are still good but cant compare them to the skc and wes teams of this year, i guess we will see how they go this week against skevs, if they win that youd have to say they are a chance. What happens if skc beet geelong and then geelong beat wesley, but then none of them lose another game, they all finish on one loss ???

3 way tie

yeah, that sounds about correct. last time that happened would be 06 from memory?

on another note, who is capable of knocking off wesley besides maybe geelong college? geelong grammar might be a bit of a dark horse with several vic country blokes floating around. thoughts?

wesley beat GG this weekend by about 40 points, they were up by 8 points at half time then wesley ran out the game much better. the fitness of the wesley team must be one of the keys to there wins.

with Grammar only on 2 points and 6 points behind wesley i just cant see them contending any more..

did anyone catch the article in the age yesterday? about some st kevins parent having a bitch to the papers?

Its a very open competition this year. There are a few sides that could win it and a few sides that can challenge those in a position to win it.

Will be decided very late and sure to be an exciting finish.

Yeah i did read that. i thought it was an absolute disgrace by SKC. If they can not cop it on the chin and move on then so be it. But to write into the age is absolutely pathetic.

Someone within the school stated that it was disgraceful that Lib and Wallis (and conway to a lesser extent) have to play considering they're going to play AFL and be drafted by the bulldogs. Said that it effectively ended their season.

The tone was that this person felt that had the three above played SKC would've won, thus they now have to hope wesley slips twice to claim the title.
Its still on theage.com if you want to check it out.
