Just back from the Scotch vs Geelong Grammar on the Scotch Main Oval

Scotch: 26.7. 163 to Geelong: 7.9.51

Bit of a lacklusture game, with Geelong's lack of skills standing out.
Bit Full-Forward P.Jacobs kicked about 8 with Scotch's midfield dominating with so many injuries from last week. (5 players unavaible this week for Scotch).

At this stage i'm unable to give the best for either teams.

Good win and they'll look forward to the battle of Gardiner's Creek between St. Kevins next week.

yeah pretty poor game to watch, skill level wasn't that high.
best for scotch i thought were Jacobs 8, Davis, Sherwin, Pike, Leith, ********.
Dunno the GGS players but 19 and 28 played alright, no stand outs though

A strong hard at it midfield.
A well organised forward line.
Backline? There only question mark! Gave away some pretty easy goals.
There was one example where 26 for Geelong took a mark contested against 3 scotch defenders. They conceded 8 goals, which was pretty poor.
The scotch midfield worked very hard offensively but defensively they were terriable, did not help there defenders.
Jacobs at Full Forward was ok, JUST OK! NO defensive work, just sits in the goal square and waits for the midfield to kick it long to him on a 1 on 1 contest.

26- thats the big fella J Lloyd. Im dissapointed the light blues got done by triple figures two weeks in a row. tell me more about GGS number 26, did he take the snags at the 40? how many did he kick- that contested mark sounds pretty decent.

brighton beat geelong college today at brighton, great game going down to the wire. brightons inacurracies nearly let them down. brighton getting up by 15 points in the end.

college dominated this game and clearly deserved to win... the rain killed the game in the last quarter

Do you have the full scores? I heard that brighton were down in the last with College coming home with the wind. (must have been a big last quarter)

What game were you at thurgood??

BGS dominated most of the game and would have won by 5 or 6 goals had they kicked straight and CG not had a couple of very lucky ones bounce through.

"Rain killed the game" - a few minutes of drizzle!!!!!!

Yeh number 26 for geelong grammer was very impresive when the ball went near him, he always had 2 blokes on him and always made a contest. The scotch defense were shacky when he went near the pill. The conteted mark he took betwween three scotch defenders was: 1. Terriable communication between the three and 2. 26 just kept his eye on the ball, not like the other three jsut lookin at each other.
NO:26 has a great quick 10 meters on the lead and a great set of mits!

No.26 thats the big Lloyd- i love nothing better than when word reaches the Meat Cleaver Gazette that the lad has had a decent game. Theres been a few suggestions this week down at the overcast hollow that is GGS that a BBQ be set up at the 40 to entice the grazing bull out of his paddock in the goal square. Though after seeing him devour most of what was fried up at last nites tooty BBQ id be surprised if it had to much room left in the gut bank. No doubt the lad is tops in a one on one contest and as you tell me today 1 on 3. Hes played some pretty good footy as of late and being in yr.11 it would come as a surprise if he didnt bag a few come next season, particularly if he moves the latch off the fence and hops out of the square.

your kidding arent ya? brighton had about 10 more scoring shots... they were down in the last quater due to inaccuracies, but a spirited comeback saw them getting up. and rain defintly did not ruin the game, it barely had an affect at all.

the brighton game was a good one. early in the last quarter i thought geelong would get up due to the massive wind blowing towards there end, which led in a few early scoring shots. but as the wind died down brighton kicked a few goals to get in front. there were many good players for bgs but i thought ben trivett's tackling was great and so was kyle tickell in the back line during the last quarter who stopped some attacks by geelong resulting in a bgs win. and does anyone know about eddo, is it his back or ribs, cos he looked pretty bad.

This Lloyd bloke was on a young, much smaller guy who was playing his first game in the firsts. Johnsy, scotch's massive, usual full back, was injured at training and subsequently missed the game. The debutant i think had trouble holding the physically larger lloyd down in the 1 on 1 aerial contests. However, jacobs, the scotch full forward, tool many strong marks on a lead, and probably more 1 on 1 against his opponent. he's definantly not a cherry picker

the game would have been won by geelong if it wasnt for McGuniess's goals that sparked his team. The mid field worked exceptionally well. with toppy's taps to a full paced Joacobi allowed for more run. only if the forwards had been more accessable, with such a odd ground the onballers became forwards having running shots from out side 40 that resulted in a poor score card.
Any team playing there this year, the onballers have to become goal kickers and main goal kickers. the ground is so strange that the chf or ff are cancelled out. which ever one the play is delievered to.

melbourne beat Wesley by 100 points. Hawkins was unstoppable on an off for his performance up forward. Tom Paul played really well in some flashie yellow boots.

the normal full forward from wesley didnt play. injured or something
watts played backline on hawkins who ended up giving watts a nice bath. hawkins sealed the performance with a nice grabb over him. good to c watts copping it

Haileybury beat St Kevins by 10 goals. Aaron Murry kicked 5 or 6. Haileybury a very strong unit with plenty of skill across the 18.
Skevies matched it for about a half of footy, but Haileybury was too tall, too skillful and too fit. Margin >70pts. Murray was BOG, this guy is a BIG unit!. Best for skevies, Dixon, with a lot of the ball around the ground. Really impressive delivery into forward setup. Watch this kid.

Sezzac,

How did Raso go?

Nicho/Jimmy,

How did the full forward for wesley go? ;)

Raso was pretty tidy across HB. Took MOTD, kneeling on a couple of players shoulders and ran forward to kick GOTD, a snap on the run from 40 on the boundary.

Yer nah eddo is ok, his got a bit of brusing on his right kidney and maybe some muscle damage in his back, but you wont b e able to keep that warrior out for long his to good.

Andrew Mcguiness will certainly get drafted, 46 touches 3 goals and 19 team involvements, scouts were loving it, will go early on.
