ASADA defied as banned dog at work. 2/3: Prismall no longer working for Dogs

I do recall that the AFL told Hird point blank to stay away from peptides in August 2011. Now Hird is not a little child that needs his hand held everyday. They told him in no uncertain terms. As an adult, they would have expected him to heed their advice. Alas, he ignored them, hired the peptide king in Dank and surprise, surprise we are where we are. While the AFL may have done more to prevent this situation, Hird and the EFC completely ignored the advice of the AFL and headed for their own course of destruction.
So the AFL are contractually obligated to look after the players while they are playing by the rules. Once they break the rules, less so. The players also need to take responsibility for not abiding by the education they continually get from ASADA.

I'm saying that the AFL are contractually obliged to look after the players now.

I am upset for the players. They've been put out of work for a year in a career that lasts 10 years if you are lucky, after enduring three years of vitriolic bile from the AFL community, and, in the 4th year of this saga, now have to pursue a claim in a Swiss court in German to try and clear their names. CAS is not a court, it's a private arbitral body not bound by the rules of evidence and none of us know how that decision was reached. In the absence of a transparent process, I'm prepared to give the benefit of the doubt to the men whose lives have been rocked by this event. And if it was your team, your mate, your son, your family member you would too.

Yeah, Hirdy has plenty to answer for.

How about the club that used these same men as pincushions? The guy that used them like lab rats? How stupid are these same men for allowing this to happen? That is what I'm saying - they're paying for their incompetence and misplaced trust. And you keep harping on about none of us have seen the evidence. Neither have you and all 3 judges that did thought they were guilty. However, you give the benefit of the doubt to the players even though you know less than those who saw the evidence. Incredible. Absolutely incredible.

What next?

'Exclusive audio of banned player farting at breakfast'. ;)

Anyway, I suspect the reporting of every minuscule thing they do will die down eventually but for the time being, that sort of thing is getting pretty tedious.
Perhaps Jobe caught having sex with somebody, and its breaking news that it's his biggest sign that his getting fit to get back to footy

When have I ever said that I know what happened - unlike the wise folk here who are convinced of the players' guilt from what they've read and heard. You really are being selective in your reading of my posts and ignoring whatever does not fit neatly into the narrative you've carefully built over the last 3 years.

I can tell you honestly that if it was my team involved I would have wanted everyone that knew anything about it or should have known thrown out of the club immediately. And if they truly did not know what the players took, I would have wanted the club to accept the fact that banned drugs may have been used and as such ask ASADA for a deal. The players would then get a slap on the wrist and the saga would have been over 3 years ago and there would not be players suffering 3 years down the track. That is what I would have been wanting as a family member.

You just said you would give the players the benefit of the doubt! You would need to know all of the facts to be able to do that. I'm not making things up or being selective. This is exactly what you just said!

Poor move by Prismall, the Bulldogs and the AFL.

Just sit the year out, do things like travel and study and take on a role next year free of baggage.

He can't be allowed to have a role at the club. Again the AFL are an embarrassment to Australia as far as anti doping is concerned.

Yeah take on a role next year free of any savings or job security, good idea.

Its a smart move by Prismall.

pretty obvious really.

To continue to get primary funding from the government and secondary funding in the form of stadia construction etc
I wish I was surprised by the AFL acting like this, but I'm not in the slightest.

"St Kilda recruit Jake Carlisle is not permitted to train at his new club or under its guidance, but Saints chief executive Matt Finnis seemed not to be aware of this yesterday.

“We are still dealing with the AFL, but Jake will definitely have a program that will have him ready for pre-season ‘17,” he said on Twitter. "

Send the Saints to oblivion
Finnis was ex aflpa , enough said

Didn't Hird say he asked about 'peptypes' in his interview of the year with Tracey Holmes?

Exactly - it should be called the $$$FL as it has been the sole focus for at least a decade.

AFL continue to be a laughing stock. it is the shonkiest organisation going around. Full of lies and all they want is to look after their own brand at the cost of the people who should matter - the supporters. They treat us like idiots and most of the time get away with it.

This whole saga has been full of cover-ups and behind the scenes deals/leaks. They join the WADA code to look good and get funding then a penalty is imposed and they complain or not follow the penalties imposed.

And the wonder why people are staying away from the game in droves.

If you **** up at work, who should suffer the consequences? Your assistant? Your boss? or... you know, you?

These men have to accept the consequences of their actions in 2012 (or rather, in-action). The Club has paid their penalty. Hird eventually paid his. Now it's the players' turn.

NAB Challenge breaking attendance and viewing records

This year’s pre-season NAB Challenge series has attracted unprecedented national following.

Last Friday night’s Geelong-Collingwood first-round match produced record attendance and television figures.

The AFL yesterday confirmed the national average audience for the Foxtel game was 192,000, a ratings record for a NAB Challenge match.

The practice match featuring Patrick Dangerfield in Geelong colours for the first time, drew a crowd of 20,460, which is also a record for a pre-season game under the present format as well as at the venue.

The remarkable crowd — due to a combination of “Danger fever” leading to a Geelong resurgence and Collingwood’s massive following — was particularly impressive given that Simonds Stadium is under reconstruction and will this year have a reduced capacity of about 26,000.

Yesterday’s Carlton-Essendon match at Princes Park drew 18,718. Last year’s challenge series over 27 games attracted 206,663 fans at an average of 7654. With 12 games played so far this year, television ratings indicate the league’s revamped four-week pre-season format, in its third year, is a clear winner with supporters, who can watch all games live on pay-TV.

After the first eight matches this year, there has already been four national average audiences in excess of 100,000, compared to five last year from fewer television games.

Its a smart move by Prismall.

Except when the 1 year ban becomes 2, and every player he has worked with also finds themselves facing a ban.

Its that incredible mix of arrogance and stupidity that only comes with the self-entitled.

And, from what I've read, I do give the players the benefit of the doubt. If the CAS decision had been open and transparent - as say, the Fed Ct proceedings were, I could accept that the players had been accorded due process if found guilty. It wasn't. In this case, the players continue to maintain their innocence and I've not read anything that causes me to disbelieve them.
