TD, you’ve abused him more than any other poster. Would be easier if you just stop calling him useless.Close the Thread Then
TD, put yourself in his shoes. How would you feel if people started abusing you and referencing disability for no other reason than having a couple of bad days at work?Close the Thread Then

I’m not shutting down anyone’s opinion.
This crap needs to stop.
They probably said that about Howe early days too at Melbourne, forwards tend to tackle more than defenders these days anywaysHe hasn’t got a defensive bone in his body. It’s forward or nothing.
Maybe it’s time for him to take leave and get well because at the moment, he’s fatigued, tired and struggling.Clearly Ash isn’t in the best space at the moment, as his on-field performances and body language suggest. He seems to be struggling and is down on his luck.
We’ve seen how this current era of the club under Fly wants to wrap its arm around players and support them when tough times fall, and I reckon that’s what needs to be done for Ash Johnson at this stage. Frankly, I can foresee a situation where he takes time away from football in the near future. And look, by all means you can criticise his performances as they are well sub par but the relentless pile on and personal abuse from our supporters has been pretty embarrassing and feels very against what this current era of the Pies is trying to stand for.
Maybe the best thing is to keep playing footy with his mates.Maybe it’s time for him to take leave and get well because at the moment, he’s fatigued, tired and struggling.
The abuse has been unwarranted and unacceptable. The criticism about his game is not.
Calling him useless all the time is abuse. You should stop.Well then Block me than.
I am Allowd to have my Opinion
Please all, be gentle with Ash.
Things certainly appear not completely well with him at the moment, and there’s a very fair chance that’s a very big understatement.
He gives the appearance rightly or wrongly of being a sensitive gentle soul and no-one even the thickest skinned people would have handled the on line and over-the-fence abuse he’s received.
Like many others on here, I’m worried about how he’s coping.
For heavens sake, please be kind, understanding forgiving and get behind him, there’s more to life than footy and let’s just show that if you’re Collingwood, then you’re family.
Thanks

“Be nice.”So I better just shut up then
Guess we have to be Nice to a Player that is in Terrible Form and his Intensity and Effort is not where it should be
On the ball yes. In the ruck no. Why is it silly? The reality is it’s a frank assessment of a guy who was best 23 only 4 matches back. His confidence would be a bigger disadvantage than the structural gains we might get over a small like HH or Richards. He has the talent to work through it and we employ Louder to guide people through times like this. I hope he bounces back, but to pull punches on assessing where he’s at serves no productive purpose, IMO (I draw the line at the personal stuff I hear is getting flung his way).Giving him a run on the ball is much the same as playing him on the wing.
Get him more involved in the general play.
Your injury scenario is just silly.
I think he can make stints work. He doesn’t necessarily need to be a full length of ground runner and it’s VFL level so what’s the harm?I dont thinks he's got the gut running to play wing.
Especially considering its only round 6. The best thing for him is to keep playing with his matesMaybe the best thing is to keep playing footy with his mates.
Clearly he’s not getting back into the AFL side anytime soon, regardless of injury scenarios. On the ball yes. In the ruck no. Why is it silly? Sounds like a good place to start.
Playing AJ in the middle won’t happen. Or on the wing. Can’t run well enough and would be easily outplayed. Our mids should play mid.Onya Wallsy! Today was confronting for AJ. He literally couldn’t get hear it in the first half whilst Farrant was everywhere early in his first game. I feel like it’s confidence, but at his age a period in the two’s is the place to find confidence. Maybe he needs a stint on the wing to get around the ball more and hitting bodies. Right now though Mihocek, Cox and McInnes could all go down and I wouldn’t be suggesting he’s in the frame…
What role is there for him to play?Clearly he’s not getting back into the AFL side anytime soon, regardless of injury scenarios.
We agree that a change of role in the VFL could help, particularly if it gets him involved in the game.
Has too much talent to give up on.
That’s up to you TD. I hope you keep posting because you know your stuff. Maybe go a bit easier on the players.Might as well stay off BigFooty for awhile then
