While I agree with most of your post, I will just clarify that I generally am not a poster that will attack players, as I don't really see the point.

My point about his effort is that while I am sure he is giving effort, his game is not solely based on effort (if that makes sense).

Anyway, watching him last night was actually a bit sad IMHO.

The team's game plan is based around everyone providing as much pressure and contests as they can.

I think he could still go alright in the right team. We just either play really quick and look for blokes who've beaten their man back into 50 or slow bombs to the hotspot. To succeed with us, he'd need to have a big tank and be hitting up to the wings all day.

i've read your abuse. I think he would welcome it if he knew about it. So often players isolate themselves from the people who can help them. Maybe we can get one of the BF posters who runs the club, to inform him of your advice.

I wasn't suggesting it's on the club. I'm suggesting that AJ might not be up to it. He's still got 18 months to rectify it and things can change but I don't think AJ thinks he's up to it.

Ash needs somewhere that lets players have more free reign. A smaller club with less pressure from fans etc perhaps. A system based club where you play your designated role, isn’t for him.

He's a confidence player but even his confident plays aren't enough. Wil Parker outperformed him in half a quarter and that can't be happening from a guy with under 30 mins of AFL experience prior.

He's contracted with us for next year and I couldn't think of a club that would want to trade for him. St Kilda? Fremantle?

Ginnivan didn't suit us because he was a tool off-field and continues to be one to this day. Completely different situation. To say he didn't have freedom in the forward line when he was constantly showing the opposite ... the nasal chemicals meddled with his brain.

Most clubs have a system of sorts these days so "freeing" him up won't work.

Interesting take, I took that particular roar as genuine and trying to rouse some confidence inside the poor bloke.

Certainly didn’t seem the same as some of the Bronx cheers Cox has received along the journey (which have also been frankly disgusting). It’s in the tonality.

They would have been hoping they would see more from him.
Even in the first couple rounds when he played alongside checkers, just wasn't performing as he did last year.
27 this year, time is running out. You would have thought he would be taking a step forward, not backwards.
 
Like most was really excited about what AJ could become in 2022/23, but if he can't show something by end of year, then thats the experiment over....

Any ball park idea of what he’d be on $$ a year , maybe they need the old school sit down reality check chat with him , “AJ your currently on really good coin, have state of the art facilities, chef style meal catering etc & you can continue to do so for years to come if you perform BUT if you continue as is , your looking at life outside of footy, the old real world Mon to Fri job on a lot less coin etc. It may sound a bit simplistic & clutching at straws but atm anything that may work is worth a shot, as whatever’s been tried or said definitely isn’t hitting home……
Maybe he just doesn’t enjoy footy enough or is dealing with personal issues that are effecting his capabilities, hope he can turn it around soon or it may be too late.

Not much I wouldn't think. Was on rookie wage 2021-2022. Promoted to the senior list, had some good games in 2022-2023, so maybe a little more than rookie wages, but wouldn't be good money.
 
Read the story. It might answer the questions from people who honestly want to know the answer. I come from melbourne. I moved to Perth and the next month I found myself in halls creek for a week. It was another planet. I hated it.
