Ashes Cricket 2009

You guys are developing it, yeah? Always thought of the Codemasters cricket series as too arcadey, but still can be quite fun. After looking at the screenshot of the MCG, I actually jizzed in my pants. Looks amazing:

I just missed out on being part of your first focus testing group, you guys doing any more testing?

Got these from Gamespot, check out the first screen. Looks like the love child of Brad Haddin and Michael Clarke, although still looks amazing.

I'm not getting my hopes up because the screens they gave us for RPIC 07 looked very good but then gave us cartoon type graphics in game and was a severe let down gameplay wise. However this looks simply amazing, I just hope it's got the gameplay to go with it or else these amazing graphics will be for wasted.

Testing is the responsibility of Codemasters. In fact any official comment on the game is their responsibility. I just wanted all you guys from the AFL days to see that we are in fact capable of great visuals in a game! :) There's a thread on planetcricket.net where everyone's dissecting the screenshots and comments made by Jamie Firth of Codemasters. Well worth a squiz.

Also, forgot to mention...these are straight from the game screenshots. No post-editing or colour balancing what-so-ever! It was taken from the 360 version.

Looks VERY nice, although that doesn't look like Punter.
And I am guessing it's Haddin in that first pic, all I'll say is it looks like he's from the 'special school'.
Both 'G's look great, but is expected with how good the AFL game stadiums were, probably the best thing from those series(Graphically at least).

All we can really hope for now is gameplay that basically replicates that of Shane Warne '99, which is still the best cricket game of all time, gotta have something fun, not repetitive and something you can play for days on end, also a good bowling scheme is needed, has been the worst point to the majority of cricket games over the years.

We gonna be getting any gameplay vids soon?

You're kidding? Looks exactly like Ponting.

It's Clarke, just looks a bit strange because he appears to be talking to someone in the field.

I disagree, best Punter so far is the one from the last RPIC(For probably obvious reasons), but that was a while ago now so would've expected a little better.

If anything I say his face isn't worn enough, needs to look a little older, far too smooth for Ricky, but still don't think it is like him, though Haddin(In the 3rd pic) and Katich look good.

Really? Hmm, maybe they should make it Haddin.

Cricket is coming to Wii!

I can't wait. This is going to be awesome! Coming out after the other console releases.

Btw, PlanetCricket will have an exclusive next week. Maybe vids or screenshots. Not sure. But it's looking the goods at the moment. Hopefully it's better than the others.

I'm actually the opposite, I reckon the Ashes Cricket 09 model looks exactly like Ponting, but the Ponting model on RPIC 07 looks like his face has been stretched and doesn't look good too me.

Hmm, agree to disagree I guess, maybe seeing the actual process of the face cap for Ricky from RPIC was what helped, but I thought it was done fairly well.

Thought it was ok, until i read that they're using the same engine as RPIC. I'm hoping they mean RPIC 2005 and not '07, '07 was too slanted towards batting - whereas i thought '05 was one of the more even cricket games.

Much like my thoughts on having an updated NES port of Aussie Rules Footy. I'd love to see an updated version of International Cricket, going to get rotten fruit thrown at me for saying it - but my preference was with the NES cricket game over Super International Cricket.

Heck, take the same code from SWC '99 and rebadge it as a 2009 title.

According to the PC interview it has been completely rebuilt from scratch, so what you heard is obviously untrue.

Saw some footage of it on Fox Sports News. Looks exactly like RPIC 07. Crap run up, crap bowling action, crap batting style (Eg. He swings just as it reaches him).

Don't get your hopes up too high.
