anyone played this game on wii yet? l know its not released in Australia yet but that wont stop some people:)

Yup, I've had a go.

Only had a quick bash at it so far. Main complaint is that it doesn't seem to want to hit the ball in the air, even when I hold down the button for it. Only seems to do it occasionally. Might just be me though, as I said, I've only played it for about 15 minutes.

Bowling is ok in that the swing or spin relates to how much you twist the remote. Not sure whether you have to catch or if its automatic as I only bowled for two overs.

Game itself is meh. Probably a bit of fun with multiplayer, but against the cpu it didn't do much for me.

In my last gaming session i managed to increase my total by 260 runs, lost 9 wickets (doh) and am currently trying to protect what was a shakey 160 run lead (already leaked 10 runs in the first over).

I've found batting in tests the hardest compared to the 20/20 and ODI matches. The timing seems to be different, although that can be down to my impatience. I'd block many balls aimed at the stumps, and wait patiently for a no ball call or a ball bowled away from the wickets - my logic was that it is safer to have a wild swing and not be LBW or bowled out. In saying that, because of my wild swing ways, i was caught out a few times playing silly shots.

Ponting was the top scorer, but was caught out just after he reached 150. I was struggling on 70 - 99, there were many close calls when on 99* and waited a few overs for a bowling change before i finally attacked the right ball (managed to get 2!!). After that, i was satisfied with the score (had a slender lead) and figured i'd go the tonk and see what happens. I did fairly well, whenever i got out i'd pick in reverse order (ie: send the tail enders in) - poor logic... but i thought i'd waste my tail enders against the better bowlers... and pounce on the better batters with the poorer bowlers.

Silly thing is that the two innings have been played as though it's a one dayer, the game is still in the last session of the first day.

Yeah because I like to play proper cricket and not just advance down the wicket and try slog everything like most of the whiners do.

This is the most rewarding way to play IMO. Treat every ball like it has a possibility to get you out, even though it's not entirely true. Most of the time you can slog every second ball to the boundary, but wheres the fun in that?

I think spinners still need some work. I had Nathan Hauritz bowl 3 overs today and he went for an average of 21. I changed my field about a dozen times and had him bowl in the yellow areas but almost every ball went for four or six. After his disastrous start I brought in Cameron White to take over, and he went for an average of 11. Seems like the AI doesn't have the slightest hesitation when facing spinners. :(

Got my second ever LBW call, and it was a sweet moment! Came as one of Brett Lee's 6 wickets in the first innings of the 4th Ashes test. He finished with 6/63. :D

I've got a good handle on the game now, my scores in test matches have increased a bit from 200 odd, 310, 380, 410 and so on. I just set my highest score of 7/617 (declared once my Highest Scorer was caught out on 178). On this innings in particular, i managed to not lose my first wicket until i passed the 100 mark (usually lost my first wicket in the first over of the last few innings).

Have also got a good handle on bowling - while i can still get slogged quite a bit, i've contained England the last 2 innings in the last 2 and a half matches where they can be all out anywhere from 35 or 180. Have also noticed that different stars emerge each test, in the first test North was the hero with the ball and took the most wickets (throughout both innings). In the second test, Siddle and Watson shared the spoils in the first innings, while in the second Johnson, Lee and North combined while Siddle and Watson went wicketless.

In the current test, it's been the Johnson show.... in saying that he's only had a few wickets (including a missed hatrick oppertunity), but runouts have been the order of the day. I've enforced the Follow On, England still trail by 380 runs.

Really wish there was greater simulate options. Over, innings & match WTF?? The EA version let pick a number of overs which was the best way. Especially when bowling in this game.

DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING THIS GAME ON WII

It is just very very very very very poor , every shot you play is almost a 4 or 6 its far to easy , just poor game , i have it on wii like 2-3days after it came out in the uk and its just ...........F*C*I*G Crap

Ps3 is not bad i brought that and have had heaps of fun on 2 players with the mates top game for it.

I think the patch really should slow the opposition batters down, anything I bowl that isn't perfect goes for a four or six. Don't even get me started on bowling with spinners

Agreed, just played it today, absolutely terrible, just about as bad as I expected.

makes me glad i didn't think about paying for it..

I just sold this game on Ebay for 74.95.

No idea why someone would pay that much for a 2nd hand game when it's around that price in stores, but hey, I'm laughing.

yeh after it didn't give me my 3 gold trophies concerning the ashes series i traded it in (glad i got eb to price match jb so i could trade it in within the 7 days)

i got a good 20+ hours out of it anyways

Camo, you live for trophies :p

nah but i was going for the platinum for this one since i only had about 5 more to go and all were gold and not getting three of them for something that i earnt annoyed me.....

but yeh....i couldn't see myself playing it after i would've gotten those trophies anywayz as i lost the enjoyment after 10 or so hours and it was within the 7 days so i thought why not put it towards something i really want

(marvel ultimate alliance 2)

Yeah, i'm finding it very dull - i've won teh ashes, 20/20 and ODI tournaments. I'm just playing it to pick off the remaining achievements before i get rid of it (or keep it in the off chance i'd have the occasional hit and giggle... but i'd rather play SWC '99).

Setting high scores is good and all, but i'd rather bowl first and run through the fielding innings quickly, and get through the run chase as fast as possible (15+ runs per over FTW!!).

Been playing a few short 5 over games, it's funny setting a 100+ run total and being able to defend it easily. Love when it gets to the final over and the required run rate skyrockets to something even more impossible.

I'm annoyed that I didn't trade the game in during the initial seven day period. Now that I've decided to get rid of it, I'll end up losing about $40 if I put it towards another game like Madden 10 or Arkham Asylum. :(

I might wait until the ODI series starts before I trade the game in. It might re-spark my interest in the game...
