They're likening it to "about as big as Origins" and a bit similar to Odyssey in how it feels to play. Guess the black sheep of the bunch thus far?
Odyssey was fun to explore and discover the landmarks. I don't know as much about Japan but hopefully it still hits the same.
Assuming you mean Valhalla with that last sentence, only AC I couldn't get through, probably made it to 20hours in. Glad that it sounds like they are correcting.

I'm guessing as far as tone goes, this will be closer to Valhalla. Judging by the previews the characters are much more serious and formal, which makes sense given the location and time.

I personally prefer the more light hearted and humourous path that Odyssey brought in the RPG series as far as characters and dialogue. Found Valhalla a bit dour in that regard.

I believe it was more in terms of loot and how the NPC's interact, since with Valhalla there was a very 'I'm just an angry person venting" vibe to any discussions whereas in Odyssey there is mythical creature here, go join an orgy there, swoon a promiscuous person there oh shit plague... so it feels more lived in and that things progress.

So it was map size about as big as Origins was, and how you go around those areas that peeps got to play in, feels more like rando Greek town than rando English town with how it got engaged and things in area, hence Odyssey and not Valhalla.

Can imagine the shit storm where Ubi has actually removed the big black man from Japanese promotional material entirely and changed it from Samurai to honoured warrior, imagine if Ubi poked fun at the history of Japan in the 1500's, that'd go down well... lead balloon anyone?

Origins was absolutely awesome. Never played Odyssey. Valhalla was an absolute punish. Had every intention of finishing that one but just couldn't do it.

Odyssey is just a fun time, so if you have interest do it as it's just vibrant and kind of over the top in places. Like lol sticking cyclop's eye up a goats arse and then finding the goat and fishing that eye out later. Pure comedy and it works. So if you've time, go for it as nothing like Valhalla but also nothing like an actual Assassin either.

I think that's the last trophy I had to hunt down to get the platinum. Took me ages to find that ****ing goat.

This looks amazing i will be playing as Naoe for majority of the game only time i want to use Yaskue is if I'm forced to use him

I'll probably do the same. Just like in Syndicate, I played more with the stealthier Evie than the brute Jacob.

Ubisoft really need to stop pandering to the dickheads a just go with a single, female protagonist. It's always been either a choice between two or both. The only exception being a small DLC. Every other company has the balls to do it.

Look up AC Hexe, this is what they're doing with that title though it's gotten some odd updates recently I'm attributing that to Shadows being a bit shit in Asian circles at present so Ubis getting dragged a bit currently.

But yeah Hexe is supposed to be German and Witches, so single female protag.

Unfortunately for me with the demo's for Shadows and what's been released, I can't not see Chinese people models and whilst Evie and Jacob worked, this does not for me, and it's AC why is there a crowd control black man in budget samurai gear? This isn't ye olde England. So I'll be waiting for mad discounts, kinda like Mirage since IDC about Basim as a character and that was DLC turned full title.

I do hope you and others that play it enjoy it though.

I think it depends on the game. Ghost of Tsushima had great English VA, that it wasn't any worse off than the Japanese VA.

Yakuza games on the other hand ... Well, Japanese VA is the only way to play!

Ubisoft generally do alright in this area. Unity was probably the only fail, hearing chav English accents in the slums of 16th century Paris was rough.

I've never understood why they do accents in the AC games. The person viewing the memory is American so why would Japanese people in game be speaking English with a Japanese accent? They should just understand it in an accent-less version of English.

The very first assassins creed sort of had this and it didn't work so well in my opinion.
