Did todays game have a minutes silence before the game for the victims like they did for the Christchurch attack?

It's a reasonable question. What determines whether a tragedy merits a minute to reflect?

There's a sizeable Sri Lankan community here in Melbourne, but maybe not large enough for the AFL to reach out to/acknowledge.

Approx 55k Sri Lankan born in Victoria vs approx 80k New Zealand born in Victoria.

If a white Australian was the perpetrator they would have acknowledged it more.

Get ready for this attack being viewed within the context of the Christchurch attack and as connected or in response to it.

However pointing out the Christchurch attack at the time as being connected to the multiple attacks in France that had a role in further radicalising that piece of excrement is much less acceptable.
IS has already done this.

The coordination suggests serious outside help. Plus the damage done suggests complex explosives.

The AFL showing compassion to people of Sri Lanka shouldn't be judged on their community size in Melbourne. Sri Lankans are no less human.

Yeah, it is kind of weird how when there is a terrorist attack that targets Muslims the response is [rightfully] "we stand with the Islamic community against Islamophobia", but then when there is a terrorist attack carried out by Muslims the response is also "we have to stand with the Islamic community against Islamophobia".

All these fruity religions have had their time in the sun when it comes to inflicting evil on the world, but it is pretty clear what the problem religion of the day is.

To be fair, generally Australians wouldn't have the same emotional proximity to bomb blasts in Sri Lanka by islamists as we would the same events in New Zealand. The attacks in Sri Lanka are emotionally remote.

Political rhetoric as a mannered response is another thing.

Normally you would be correct. This attack is a little different because of the similarities of link in the minds of many to the Christchurch attack.

Both involved the killing of innocent people observing their faith in a place of worship. There are reports of ISIS supporters (this may not mean much but further leaves a connection between the two events in the minds of readers) online claiming the attack is revenge for Christchurch.

These links are likely to have many comparing the two attacks and examining the reactions to both.

Add in the fact that it occurred on Easter Sunday at churches(as well as elsewhere) and many more in Australia are likely to feel a closer connection to it.

When put in this context the reading of the room by entities like the AFL, news organisations, politicians etc can leave a bit to be desired.

I'm leading with the Tamils, because 'Sri Lanka.' 99.9999999999 percent of terrorist shit in that country has been by them.
Nice deflection, and also totally inaccurate.
Great way to disparage one group of people whilst ignoring the culpable parties.
I'd like to think most people research statistics before going after minority groups, however I've been reading Bigfooty for ten or so years, and one thing I've learnt...people will post what the hell ever they want if it supports their agenda.
Your agenda is glaringly obvious.

Newsflash, not all people who celebrate easter are religious. But you know, continue fighting the Fraser Anning led fight in the faux war, made up inside the tiny little minds of those who believe it.
