To only have 36,000 approx at Telstra for the first time a hawks team has made the final since 2001 is shocking. Boy did you miss out on one hell of a game. Get to this game against the roos and support your side. To not have a packed staduim is disaster. The crows supporters were in full voice and at times sounded like they outnumbered us. C'mon hawks show up and support the Hawkers! Go Hawks:thumbsu:

Yep, one and only lowlight on a truly magnificent day. If you're a Hawk fan and didn't go, kick yourself (hard), spew on yourself and hang your head in shame.
And then move heaven and earth to get to the Roos game....

Reminds me a bit of our last finals series in 2001.

In our first final we only drew 32,910 vs. Sydney – ironically at the Dome, 2 weeks later we played in the infamous Goldshit game and drew 40,000+ Hawk supporters to the game.

On both occasions we came into the finals on the back of smashings and weren't expected to last past the first week.

I was there Saturday and the crowd was disappointing. C'mon Hawkers..

I had the best seats in the house IMO. I was just sitting in front of Beau Muston,Dowler, Moss, Thurgood, Jacobs, Morton, etc...

Was encouraing Clarko at every quarter.

That is a moment I would never forget.

I took some pictures but my mate has the camera.

i was dissapointed with the crowd numbers but the hawks people that did show up went ballistic and we were as loud as i've ever heard us

lets get 40k to the G and be just as loud and passionate!!

Damn straight. How tense was it? My heart nearly burst and my voice was almost gone at the end. Didn't stop yelling all day (mostly encouragement but with a fair bit of vitriol to the men in green).

Hugging and high fiving people I've never met .Awesome.

Unfortunately, have a prior engagement this weekend so will be unable to attend this week:(. My Kangaroos supporting sister's 30th birthday. Not happy Jan.

Like I've said in other threads, and like myself and hawk mate said to eachother on Sat. Other than not being able to afford to go why the hell wouldnt you show up to your first final in 6 years, member or non member???
Pathetic.
Lot of passionate hawks sharing how pathetic it was with KB this morn and rightfully so.
Get your fairweather ar5es there this Sat.
No excuses (other than being on the poverty line!!)

Might have only been 26,000 - 27,000 Hawk supporters there... but they were the loudest most passionate crowd that you would ever want to see.. The atmosphere was amazing!!

I think getting smashed by Sydney the week before would have kept at least 5000 people away... Anyone that decided to stay at home would be kicking themselves.

Jump back on this week Hawk fans... we are at the G... There are NO EXCUSES!!!

At the Dome definitely.

It just goes to show you why we play games in Tasmania, our fans just don’t roll up for Dockland finals, let alone Telstra Dome home games.
Well those fans should not call themselves fans. They are merely fairweather supporters. It was our first final in 6 yrs. They had a duty to intimidate both the fans and players from the opposition rather than sitting at home having their pathetic silent protests at where the game was played.
I live in the west and I would have gone to Waverley if it was still there.
Refusing to turn up to games does far more damage than good. Not to mention giving all of us a bad name!

I was spewing as I had a gig that I couldn't get out of. I was on the phone with mates at the game for about 45 minutes of it. My phone nearly exploded when Buddy kicked that goal.

I'll be there this week - nothing will stop me.

The bottom row was absolutely insane. I've never seen hawk supporters get so vocal and involved in years. Unfortunately the top level was pretty empty.

Lots of Hawk supporters hate TD, because it was the death of Waverley, the food is expensive, the seating arrangements are gay and the hawks used to play terribly there (that loss to bottom placed Freo in 2001 sticks in my memory).

At the G i think we can eclipse the crowd from the last game and easily rope in 70,000 plus. Get all your bandwagon hawks supporting friends along too and support the mighty fighting hawks

Blame that on the pedantic security of the TD. My aunt said that one of her friends from an exercise went to the game and couldn't get in because of the security at the ground.

I went to the game and the atmosphere was absolutely electric. Best live game of football I have ever witnessed.

I put the lack of attendance down to Hawk Fans expecting a loss, therefore not turning up to avoid disappointment. I was amazed at the amount of Hawk Supporters that were expecting us to lose. Personally, I expected us to bounce back and think we will do it again on the weekend.

Pathetic.

Ever stopped to think of the non-Melbourne based Hawks supporters, those who may have had to work Saturday afternoon, those with their own sporting commitments, or those who may have been unwell or physically unable to attend? Don't be so narrow minded.

Good to know I can expect 30,000 passionate Hawks supporters at AAMI stadium next season.

forget next season - next fortnight, against the power!!!!!

Although I was initially disappointed with the crowd, i cannot remember a game where the noise and atmosphere was better. i heard Hodge after the game say that the crowd noise was sensational - in the last quarter they couldn't even hear the whistle. Let's not worry about who didn't turn up - let's just make sure there is even more noise this week.

Go the mighty Hawks!!!!!!:D:D:D

I think this thread is calling out people who realistically could have made it to the game.

20,000 hawks supporters missed the birth of a superstar on Saturday.

I think if we keep crying poor to the AFL over MCG games and have turn ups like this then we've got nothing to complain about.

I don't like saying it on here but unfortunately it's true.

I'm willing to let it go if you can come on Saturday and scream your lungs out for the Hawks. Maybe I can rest my voice a bit, probably wont though.

The TV commentators reckon it was a 50/50 split, thats not good enough Hawkers.

Never under estimate the power of a Home team crowd as i am sure thats what got Power over the line last weekend, the noise everytime they got the ball and it sounded like 40,000 people booing the egirls everytime they got the ball.

I wish i could get down there i bleed Brown and Gold, i have never even contemplated barracking for another team, even the Lions as i live on the Gold Coast.

And rest assured i won't be Barracking the Roos when they move here next year either and i live 5 minutes from Carrara.

The TV commentators are full of shit then. The Crows had one section, in a pocket, at the non-city end (can never remember which end is which). They made a fair racket, but nothing overwhelming....

This is the part a lot of people can't seem to comprehend. If the Hawks were playing someone like Essendon, Collingwood or Richmond, we would have had 60,000+ at the ground and nothing would be said.

Port Adelaide get 30,000 at their final and they think it's Christmas, but that's okay apparently.

I saw that game on television and there was a sea of brown and gold with the odd splash of Crows colours. I'd say at least 30,000 were supporting the Hawks from what I saw.

AH I'm not being narrow minded. I obviously realise there are other committments, and as if i wouldexpect interstate or remote country folk to come. But there is no getting away from the fact that a lot of people refused to come because of the venue and because we lost so poorly the week before.
Maybe I should have just said "Ïf u were able to come why the hell wouldnt you" and a lot of people would have said "because it was at the dome, or "I'm not paying $37 to see us lose"
If we can get high 40's to a Swans game in middle of the year then we should at least nearly match that in a final with the assistance of about 7-8k Crows.
Sorry if you found it so offensive. I'm just a tad annoyed at being put in the same boat as a lot of sooky supporters.

To quote Sheahan from 'On the Coach'

'The crowd was low because Hawthorn people don't go to the Dome'

Unfortunately the greater perception of Hawthorn supporters are that we are a fickle fairweather support base. But hey, full credit to the supporters that did go and made the game into a finals type atmosphere.
