Why is Nick bothering with singles

As we speak MTO after 1 set lol
1 set all now. Players often use MTOs as momentum breakers and this is most likely an example of that.

Big opportunity for Kyrgios here to pick up a very solid win in his first match back. This Frenchman has a ridiculous serve and breaking him looks near impossible so if Nick can take him out then that's going to be massive for his confidence.

Novak will hate playing Perricard

Hope Tiafoe flogs this french stick

Will be close but I’ll be tipping the French player. This French player is in serious form, won a Masters event last year. He will be a nightmare draw for any top seed. Hopefully Sinner or someone draws him in the first few rounds

First time ive seen him play heck me his serve game was ridiculous every time Nick made some inroads where it look like he was going to break Perricard will rip a few 200kh serve aces and win.

He’s also extremely good off the ground he does need to be a bit better off return but he’s similar to Raonic was and at his peak he was a nightmare too

He does.

Nick troubled him all match if Perricard can sharpen his return game he will be almost impossible to beat

So young so there’s plenty of time for him to get a more rounded game rather than only the serve

Superb win by Birrel
She lived the dream today. Beating a top 10 player on your (almost) home court in front of friends and family would be a massive thrill for anyone. I know her support network down on the Gold Coast and at Queens Park specifically would be really proud of what she did today. Looks like she may face an unseeded opponent in the third round as well so there's a massive opportunity for Kim to go deep in this tournament. We really need another Gold Coast girl in Olivia Gadecki to win tonight too in order for us to progress in the United Cup. Fingers crossed.

Hopefully the other Queenslander (kind of) playing tonight in Maya Joint also scores a big win over Azarenka. Could be a huge day for Aussie tennis if several results fall our way.

Gadecki getting owend by Boulter.

Been a dissapointing effort from the Aussies Alex would be annoyed at his team been left all up to him to carry the flag.

She was never beating Boulter not sure what you expected? Boulter has a better everything.

Just proves that we have stuff all talent coming through the women ranks always relying on battlers like Saville,Tomljanovic etc.

Sam Stosur apprently has taken it upon her self to coach the next generation through she's not happy at the lack of talent coming in the women ranks.

You can’t pull talent out of thin air you need buckets of cash and academies to develop these kids- that’s just reality

Why didnt Alex play at the Brisbane International? with no Sinner,Carlos etc in his way he could win another title

It’s all about the type of prep he wants. Possibly doesn’t want a full tournament leading in and the way he plays it’s the right call if he’s not changing the way he plays
