Great stats by Eddie when talking to Jess Fox.

Only Oz female Olympians to defend their title, Shirley Strickland in 80m hurdles in 1952, Dawn Fraser 100m Free in 1964, and now Ariane Titmus 400m, Kaylee McKeown 100m backstroke and now Jess all in Paris.

The only Oz female to win 3 individual gold medals outside of our swimmers, is Betty Cuthbert 100m+200m in Melbourne 1956 and 400m in Tokyo 1964. Eddie then tells Jess she has a statute at the MCG, so Jess might get one and that's how big what she has done is, relative to other Oz female Olympians.

Edit; Eddie might have said What Betty Cuthbert did was unique between both female and male Oz Olympians outside the swimmers. I can't think of any male outside swimming who has won 3 individual gold medals. There are at least a couple on two - Edwin Flack and cyclist Ryan Bailey come to mind.

Lots of women with hyphenated-names but not too many guys.

First man I can think of was tennis player Pat O'Hara-Wood about 100 years back.

Might be a first 2 Americans finished 7th and 8th. Kyle 8th at 50m. Would never have won but maybe 3rd or 4th would have meant you got silver with a bit more of a gap.

Jess Fox? NAH! JESS GOAT

The Best Goat GIF by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
She's absolutely the GOAT. Id argue one of our best ever olympians. Pressure of being the best in the world and one of our flagbearers and she has ice in her veins and gets it done when it matters. Put her on a pedestal for Australian sport she deserves it. A legend.

Stubblety Cook was shifted from his normal race routine because Marchand left him too much to do. He likes to leave a bit in the tank to come over the top with a big finish but Marchand took that opportunity away so he expended more energy than he wanted to. Full credit to him he's like Jess Fox getting it done under immense pressure.

So far Gracenote has picked 6 of the 7 gold winners correctly;

Fox x 2, Cycling Grace Brown, Swimming W 100m back, W 400m, W 4x100m Free,
Got MOC and Titmus in 200m Free round the wrong way
Got Logan Martin wrong - he crashed out today, other 7 still to be decided.

They had us winning 4 gold yesterday and we only got 1. Think there's some pretty good chances to make the difference up elsewhere. Jess Fox for triple gold maybe?

Wearn is on their list for gold and starts tonight in the men's dinghy. Five days, 10 races. The 2023 and 2024 world champion and won gold in Tokyo.

Rock solid concentration
Will go down in history as the GOAT (even more GOAT-IER than Dusty!!! :p).

Heart
Grit
Determination

Hopefully she inspires people to follow their goals etc.

Disappointing result in the pool but two silvers is decent, we can't really just expect to get the gold all the time. Congrats to Pan, bringing up doping now just seems like being a sore loser. Unless it's proven lets just acknowledge the performance.
