Both of the Aussies swimming well and in the top 3 at the half way mark.

Johnson in 1st, Gubecka in 3rd.

Long way to go but they’re looking good - particularly Moesha Johnson who has been in the top 2 for the entirety of the race.

Johnson leads a break-away of three. A significant gap to the chasing pack, of which Gubecka is a part. A good chance of our 19th gold coming up in about half an hour, but I won't put my house on it just yet.

Aussie lass has been doing a lot of work at the front. The Dutch girl had a decent stint as well. The Italian has been doing none of the lead work. A bit worried she'll have the legs if it is a sprint finish.

Does the finish still have that board which needs to be slapped, a bit like the top of the speed climbing wall? I seem to remember a race (Rio men's perhaps) where it was a super tight finish and the guy who was slightly in the lead stuffed his touch up and lost the gold.
