Think this is why most of the Australians lose, they are too inconsistent, not like other countries where they win in either 3 or 2 sets…Alex is our only hope but even when he gets deep into slams he loses
They don't come from shitholes that were being bombed nor is there a system here that is training ten-year olds to hardcore standards like Switzerland, Italy, the US. it's a fairly lackadaisical sport here, Tennis Australia are more concerned about casual play than anything.

The AIS exists but that thing is becoming more and more redundant every year. getting a scholarship there is a bit different to your family relocating to Florida and paying tens of thousands for you to make it.

They're just half arsed and lack any killer instinct because it doesn't really matter. 'oh yeah, a fourth round is alright, few hundred grand in that.'

Geez. You wouldn't think Kokkinakis was up one set to love if you read this comment and hadn't seen the score.

I agree. Plenty of inconsistent players from other countries as well.

Most matches have changes of momentum. Players are not robots.

Too diplomatic.

It's rubbish to suggest there's some inherent flaw with Australian players. Especially given we've had Barty and de Minaur the last few years be very successful.

Exactly. Tennis is very much a sport in which momentum swings occur. It's not as if Djokovic has won all 24 of his slams with straight sets victories in the final. Literally every player on the pro tour drops off for periods of a match. To suggest it's somehow an exclusive Australian trait to do so is beyond ridiculous and probably shows a poor understanding of the sport.

He just lost second set. Which I knew was going to happen, I agree there are inconsistent players from other countries but not as many as what we have. When the other slams are on most the players from those countries excel, like US Open, I remember most of the Americans making finals in that, anyway just an opinion I put out there
