Tim David is on that team on reputation not form. Did diddly even around T20 franchise around the world.

Matt Short not in there is a tad strange.

Feel like Aaron Hardie hasnt quite nailed down international leagues Ive seen him play eg MLC. I do feel he is a level higher than the BBL though.

Stoinis' as much as I dont like the guy, was probably Australias best player in this year World Cup.

Why no Maxwell? Im assuming he got rested along with some major names.

No Matthew Wade, im assuming selectors have moved on from him given he was part of the 2 failed recent campaigns in the World Cup. Inglis is the right choice for me.

And I know Mitch Marsh name been throw up in social media, some reckon he shouldnt be in that squad. For me his liability is spin in the subcontinent.

Matt Short and his wife are expecting a child very shortly. He'll head over once he's born.

looks like we've moved on from wade and perhaps agar in T20 and Stoinis from the odi format.

hopefully all the test players come back fresh for the summer to join cummins, lyon and khawaja.

Nice to see some young faces ...Cummins rested

looks a good young squad

But David still gets picked. Would have been the perfect time to give Ollie Davies a go

From what I hear, you were a big advocate for Tim David in past posts? Has the T20 World Cup performance reinforced now your views about him?

Not so much that but it’s time to blood players who can be genuine out and out hitters. I was a fan of trying David as at least domestically he’d done this especially in the IPL but maybe that’s his level that’s okay least we know now

His performances in other T20 leagues, was kind of a reflection of his last BBL campaign. He has failed to deliver on a consistent basis . Measuring fail is a tough . But if your job is to come out and swing for 25 runs off 15 balls or so, Id say he failed more often than not as a power hitter.

Yep, one thing I will say I feel we misread the conditions in the Windies, a solid bat like Green instead of David in those conditions was a blunder.

There's no way Ollie Davies should be near the Aussie team right now. As if he'd do any better than David anyway.

Try someone, doesn't have to be Davies. Would have been happy with Sutherland too or someone like that as well. We have seen David, he's had a WC and everything in between. Move on.

Tim David averages 30 at a strike rate of 163 for Australia = failure, move on.

Ollie Davies averages 21 at a strike rate of 135 in domestic T20s = must be tried.

I want to see Tim David do that under pressure when Australia has a game on the line. There is a reason why the Hobart Hurricanes have been a failure especially with that given squad year in, year out. With that squad, they should have made a few more Grand Finals.

I dont see him as a winning type personality. I went to one of the games he played in Perth recently, and yep he scored runs in a losing cause. I have this question mark whether he can do what he is supposed to be doing in 'big games'.

Id love to know his results in big franchise leagues in 'crunch games'. I reckon it would be pretty poor. And the fact that he is hiding down the order at 7 in a batting lineup playing as a specialist batsman in alot of games , complicates things.

We've already qualified for the next T20 World Cup, and there's a 0% chance we won't qualify for the next CWC in 2027, too.

Any white-ball game between those events is just a practice match. If your favourite player didn't get selected, don't worry, they probably will soon enough.

My takes

David I sort of agree
Short's having a child
Hardie is an interesting one, the only open spot I see in the T20 XI (for this series) is the #7, wonder if his game can adapt to that or not as he bats at #3 in the BBL
Stoinis is a lock in the T20 format
Maxwell rested
No idea about Wade but didn't do much in the WC so probably fair enough
Marsh is just out of form he'll be fine

The teams I'd probably go with

ODI
M Short, Head, Marsh, Smith, Labuschagne, Maxwell, Carey, Starc, Ellis, Zampa, Hazlewood

T20
Fraser-McGurk, Head, Marsh, Inglis, Stoinis, David, Hardie, Johnson, Ellis, Zampa, Hazlewood

sadly it's true about white ball cricket these days - only world cups matter.

looks like we've moved on from wade
Thank ****, he is the biggest dickhead in the side and nowhere near good enough to hold his slot. He doesnt match anyone else in the side's attitude.

His best contribution to Australian cricket is forcing Zampa's "Zippy" nickname during the t20 world cup

Hearing talk that Maxwell,s test career might not be over and being looked at for the test series in asia as the 2nd spinner and batsman.Needs to play more red ball cricket for me which includes shields to be considered.Give a younger all rounder a go.

like who? (if we are doing like for like)
