Who would you pick? The bowlers are the interesting bit, although I'd give Gilly the match off to put his feet up and get ready for the battle to come....if Martyn and Clarke didn't need to get some form at the crease, I'd put Hodge in- Hodge has shown he can batter Pommy attacks this summer anyway....

Hayden
Langer
Ponting
Martyn
Clarke
Katich
Haddin
Warne
Lee
Gillespie
Kasprowicz

Hayden, Langer need batting practice as they Haydos has struggled and Langer hasnt played yet. Looking at the team, Ponting seems the logical player to leave out, Marto could always do with some batting practice, same with Clarke and Katich and Hodge should get a game against his old county.

The bowlers pick themselves, the 3 quicks are competing for 2 spots, other thing is you could bring Tait in for Warne and have Katich, Clarke and Hodge as your spinners.

Eddie, might be best if you had a short sabbatical champ.

Your respect levels among most BigFooty Users is at an all-time low after your recent Ponting attacks (Natwest player of the series and winning captain vs Michael Vaughan - how many runs?) Was it also you who gave it to Bevan - arguably best ODI player Aus has ever had? You've probably also given it to McGrath at some stage.

Is it you who think unproven players like Flintoff and Pietersen are the best thing since sliced bread? Is it you who constantly slags off at one of our greatest openers Matthew Hayden?

In fact, let's not stop there. Most of what you post is back of the bar, pub rubbish.

Is it true you're unemployed and an umpire? Surely you're life's not that bad.
May I politely ask what state your from?

Fact is Hayden's been ordinary for a very long time now in both forms. And is VERY, VERY lucky to be in the team.

More a matter of fact than opinion making it unarguable my friend.

No matter what they have to give gillespie heaps of the ball to get back into form.
Yep mdog.

But he is a long version specialist and should excel in the transition. There were signs in Game 3 against England he was hitting the G-spot. I guess this tour match will give us clearer signs as to his predicament.

His bowling was alright yesterday but really 1 wicket was good the other two were just lucky. However he was on the money a bit more and will like the 5 day game better.

IMO. You can't be dropped from the test team, for not playing well in the one day team. It's like being fired from your job for being a homo, or pregnant.

However.

Dizzy's recent test form hasn't been good and in a world of fairness is two ordinary tests away from losing his spot, to the Bing express. Even though Tait should be next in line.

Australia's XI for the tour match:

Justin Langer
Matthew Hayden
Ricky Ponting
Damien Martyn
Simon Katich
Michael Clarke
Adam Gilchrist
Jason Gillespie
Brett Lee
Michael Kasprowicz
Stuart MacGill

No arguments from me here, would have been good if Tait played but I think MacGill will be much more in prevalent in the series than Tait - especially considering the time of year the series is being played.

Maybe could have rested Gilchrist, is Haddin in the Test squad?

you'd think Tait will get a game in the next tour match, as would Haddin (yes he is in the Test squad).

Langer and Hayden needed the hitout.. with Langer not in the one-day squad and Hayden still struggling, but slowly getting into gear. Lee also needed to play that match to show what he can do with the "red ball". Both Kasprowicz/Gillespie slowly getting into gear and perhaps looking like a hitout for the 2 pacemen spots (with McGrath the only certainty).

Just do what everyone else has done, add him to your ignore list. Just make sure you wish him happy birthday on April 24.

0/22 from 5.

That though, isnt that important at this stage. He just needs to get some serious overs under his belt.
That's actually quite good. Yeah, i agree he just needs to play himself into form. He would have gained a lot of confidence from the game at The Oval.
