Haven't read the whole thread yet but people complaining about the 4th quarter fade out seem to be disregarding how we had two of our toughest players go down for the game in the first quarter so we were a sub and rotation short for most of the match. Thought the performance was excellent for three quarters with an understandable fade out in the last given our injury situation. We honestly played well enough around the ground for three quarters that we should have had a better lead going into the last. We were very wasteful in front of goal and our final pass inside 50 was awful. If we can clean things up disposal-wise with our final pass, I feel like our midfield will keep us in a few games this year.

P.s. Some absolute feral Crows supporters around today and on the first level. Can't Marvel piss off interstate supporters to level 3 for our games?

Having no banners, is also pathetic.

Footy is such a soul-less experience, nowadays.

May seem like a minor thing, but the kids love it.
Yep. Then we kick a goal and as they run back to the centre bounce they play a grab of Land Downunder. Great song but WTF play it then? How about someone cranking up the North fans or some crowd noise. Men at Work during the game? Ummmm - am I missing something?

Lol mate, spot on.

Say NO, to Roos in Tassy ;)

Plain depressing considering the Crows were pretty poor themselves, our efforts being undone by poor skills entering fifty and the late downhill skiers that bloated the score line. I am much flatter than last week as we could have and should have won.

It is the same senior players letting us down time and again. Thank christ for the kids and the few perennial whipping boys showed up to play today. I am sorry Tom Campbell and I thank you for your vfl efforts, but I don't want to see you in a north jumper again.

Normally I have blind optimism or positivity after a loss, but this has been my flattest loss in two years from a personal POV.

Counter-argument;

"Hey AFL players, during this pandemic, please run face first through an honour guard of public citizens, then run face-first through some crepe paper that was hand-crafted and taped together on the unwashed floor of a local scouting hall"

At least it felt like a ‘proper’ footy match for 3 qtrs so that’s a positive. Our overall endeavour was good but skills at important times were really poor, the Turner turnover swung momentum 100% the other way unfortunately. Just horrendous stuff from an experienced player. For us to win a game we need everything to go right for us, umps, opposition having an off day, maximising opportunities AND no Turner type screw ups.
Ziebel looks settled in the backline and is having a decent year, Powell super impressive today, Larkey was a bit better today but it’s hard being a FF at North at moment. Our backline considering the outs fought really hard I thought. Last qtr we ran out of gas especially after the Turner error. Noble simply needs to keep the players spirits up, we are so undermanned at the moment.

Biggest positive for me was our defensive transition. First time in a long time I've walked away from the ground thinking, yep, we're finally getting some fluency with our ball movement.

Genuinely don't get the Campbell hate. He's a VFL footballer but we looked so much better structurally - suddenly the opposition couldn't triple team Larkey and take a million intercept marks, and Goldy could actually go forward properly.

Obviously it's Xerri's spot long term but people just have a real prejudice to TC. He showed how weak Walker can be in the contest too.

He looks like one of those Easter Island statues, is as mobile as one and is equally adept at marking a football. But somehow today he was able to make our team better whilst still doing bugger all. So imagine what could happen when we have someone who has the same role and actually contributes.

We were a lot better today, liked the young lads taking the game on through the middle. But we couldn’t keep it together for 4 quarters, it’s where we are at.

Tom Powell is my new favourite footballer. Boy can play!

Anyone else at the game notice the sheila that read the team names prior to the bounce got at least three wrong. Mahoney became Ma honey (been watching all the Police Academy movies), Zurhaar became Zoo ahhh, Ben Mackay became Ben Mackie. FFS. Embarrassing to the club. Surely it isn't too hard to get the names of the players right.
Shiela?! Grandpa!

The behold game day experience is lacking due to silly COVID rules. Can’t meet friends INSIDE another part of the stadium at half time, yet after can go after the game as do what you want. Pathetic

100% spot on.

We looked a different team with an actual structure in spite of Campbell's lack of top line ability. Much better for the younger group to learn in a structure that has some chance of scoring.

Positives:

I thought Stevo was outstanding today and his teammates are gonna have to explain burning him a few times when he helped at the back, pushed forward and got ignored. Bloke will be a star that's for sure. That 3rd quarter was his best quarter thus far. Everywhere.

LDU. He was very good too. It doesn't help that there's a lean amount of leadership but he was breaking tackles and running the lines well. Did miss two gettable shots and made some basic errors but damn what a gun he will be.

Simpkin. Had a bit of mongrel getting into the Adelaide midfielders and contributed massively to clearances and when we dominated the 3rd quarter. His vision is underrated much like LDU.

Young. Had to play taller and did an excellent job.

McKay. This guy is unbelievably good. Wow.

Bonar. Our next back pocket defender? Was very good today as well.

Larkey. Umpires absolutely ****ed him as he got monstered a few times but I thought he was extremely crucial in the middle when the ball was loose. Made it very hard for Adelaide to rebound. That goal tally needs to keep ticking!

Turner. Had some very bad moments but he got right into Laird and gave it his all.

Phillips. That classy goal. He will do the number 29 proud. You've earned it son!

Powell. When we get a run on this bloke will be giving us the edge. Scary to think what he can do with a functioning forward line. Bloke is a outright gun.

Goldy. I swear without this bloke we're absolutely ****ed.

Thomas. That last goal he kicked will only make him grow as a footballer. He will become the next Wells.

Atley. He was very composed today especially under immense pressure.

Scott. Didnt have his best game but he did bring a contest to a loose ball. He stopped Adelaide from getting back the ball as easily. Tried.

Cunnington to an extent. He still does his stuff but I feel like he isnt quite back at his best. He needs a few weeks to get there at least. Or he might not get back there at all.

Hall. Just about his best game for the club. He did make some blues but geez when he gets going we look more sexy.

The captain. I don't care what anyone says this bloke gives us composure when the ball is hot. Hit some kicks we thought he wouldnt go near.

Negatives:

Campbell. Needs to nail those shots. Dropped far too many easy grabs for a big boy. Either he improves or Xerri takes his spot. I think he's going to be delisted.

Mahony. His disposal lets him down. Gotta be better than that although much like the other young blokes he has time to improve.

Lazzaro. Didn't notice him much other than when we got into another gear during the 3rd but can't be hard on him at this stage.

Very disappointing to go down like we did in the 4th. But let's be realistic, if any club had the cupboard as bare as we did they would be ****ed too.
