Went and saw Jasper Jones over the weekend and loved it. I read the book so was keen to see if it was just as good and it was. Also helped that the writer Craig Silvey also wrote the screenplay. All performances were great. The film was mainly shot in Pemberton and it looked beautiful on the big screen.

Lion was fantastic until the middle part which dragged for 45 minutes. Dev Patel was average until the last 10 minutes (though he did a pretty good Aussie accent)
Finally got around to watching Hacksaw Ridge last night. Damn good film. Bit of poetic licence in there but makes for a great story.

Currently watching 'Young Frankenstein' on SBS Viceland. I saw this film when it was originally released with a friend who laughed so loudly I had to see it a second time to hear the jokes. It's clearly absurd but it's attention to detail makes it a cinematic classic. 
Best movie watched recently : "Logan" Excellent comic book movie almost as good as the Dark Knight. Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart were awesome.
Kong Skull Island : Great popcorn flick sit back turn your brain off and enjoy big monsters fighting.
Worst overhyped movie watched recently : La La Land : even the wife who loves musicals hated it. From the same director of the fantastic film "Whiplash" this movie was just so underwhelming a serious snoozefest.

Got it on bluray at a JB hifi sale, brother recommended it to me.
Best movie I've seen recently is Sing Street, Irish musical with a killer soundtrack especially if you like 80s music.

T2 Trainspotting - probably the best film I've seen so far in 2017 ('I don't feel at home in this world anymore' is pretty good also).
Renton goes into his 'Choose Life' bit, and it's just a sledgehammer of reality for us oldies.
Ending is a bit meh, but there's enough there to warrant a second viewing.
