Bad Beat/Vent/Brag thread

Well.. poker gods 😁 on me a little tonight.

I'm BB (K8) blinds 500/1000 I have 18k left... Utg +1 raises to 3k SB calls and I call...

Flop A,7,A checks all round.. turn is an 8 🤔 SB checks 🤔 I shove all in with my 15k and hope nobody has an A UTG +1 calls SB folds...

UTG +1 turns over 77 for him to have the full house... I start to stand up... The river is an A to give me the bigger full house 😯

Poker gods owed me I've had some bad beats over the last few months.

And finished 3rd for $120 😁

Blinds 30k 60k UTG shoves all in 180k folds to me SB calls the 180k (I have 235k) BB all in for 150k.

UTG AK (both diamond) me AA and BB A2

Can't remember all the cards what came out but the AK got the flush and I'm crippled and out in 4th and $ couple hands later... A2 out in 5th.

Not so much a bad beat... Bit unlucky... Just annoying went from such a strong position to be out a couple hands later. But in that position folding pockets A's wasn't gonna happen.

Blinds are 4/8 and I have 45k waiting for a hand UTG 3

UYG1 shoves all in for 57k and has played literally any 2 cards - and hit. Then loses a pile until he does the same and hits

I look down at AA and there is a slight twinge having seen him dispatch a set of flopped Kings with 26o and a 5 on the river for a straight

But Aces are Aces and I may as well stop playing if I fold these - every body folds and he turns over yep 78o

Flop is 26T

I stand up up frustrated at life and poker - because the 9 is the turn card FFS

Update from Vegas.

Been here a week and it is madness. Didn't even sleep for the first two days. Played one WSOP event (Seniors) and made day 2, but only played 12 minutes of it. I opened from the SB with 7Ts, BB raises, I call. Flop is 7T3, 2 diamonds. I check, BB bets out and I jam. BB tanks for a while, then calls with AdK and goes runner runner for the flush.

Played a $200 tourney at an off-strip casino last night and ended up doing an ICM cjhop 4 ways. The chop gives the other 3 players $50 extra from my cut to bring the payout to $5199USD so I avoid Nevada's state tax, because if I go on to win, I end up with less money. I get the trophy and free entry into a later tourney with a $10K first prize.

Plan for today is the Millionaire Maker. Hopefully my rungood from last night continues.

Poker is a fun game when everything is going good... Doesn't normally last as long as when things turn to shit.

But last 4 weeks I've come 3rd 4th 3rd 5th at my local and cashed each time...

Just get those good runs going where ya feel confident and I love it lol. Just got to enjoy while I can.

Greetings from Vegas. Only time for a quick update. Fired 2 bullets into the WSOP Super Seniors with no success. Got it all in ahead both times and run down on the river. Similar results when playing a few non-WSOP tourneys at other casinos. Now playing the WSOP Main Event. Made it through to Day 2 with $67K. Restart at 500/800/800.

Did you see or are you the guy in the Suns top - noting your team support

I wore the Tassie foundation jumper in, but it got too hot and I had to take it off. Didn't see a Suns top.

How ya going? You still in? 🤞🤞

Hate when the wrong person calls your all in -

Couple of hands before rebuy and with 30k I look down at 56D UTG goes all in for 22k I figure its marginal but I jam my 30k and see BB jam 28k

I guess we all had the same idea double up or buy - now a little history the table had had an extraordinary amount of flopped 5s either singly or paired. Sure each deal is different but poker players are superstitious

Original raiser shows KT I table my 56 and BB shows J5

5 on the flop ( told ya) and I'm dead already as no diamonds and a J on the turn sees 2 eliminated

If BB doesnt call I win

Again I am down to 33k blinds are 2/4k and I am UTG2 with 99

UTG raises to 12k and there is no way I am just calling 12k so I shove my 33

BB tanks and then just calls - UTG tanks then folds

BB has KQ and a Q on the flop sees me out

UTG has AT where my 9s hold and I double up

But alas

That is annoying as hell when you jam suited connectors and get dominated by someone with a rag kicker.

Interesting hand on my table last night.. I wasn't involved... But flop came 5,5,5 everyone checks.. turn is a 7.. one dude shoves and gets one caller... The guy who shoved had 7,? For the full house... The caller had A,?

The river...... Is a 5 giving the ace high the win..

Ouch.

Had a good patch 2 weeks ago where I got 3rd, 8th and 5th in consecutive games, but running like absolute dogshit last week and a half where I'm getting it in preflop or on the flop way ahead but the dominated hand that calls has every draw under the sun and gets there on the turn when I have an overpair and blockers to the board

Today for example

TT vs 89os maniac

875 board, goes in, they get there right away on the turn with the 6 and I can't find a 9 on the river

Wednesday 88 vs 55, both all in pre 100k vs 250k, 20kbbs
Flop 367 black, turn 4, no 2 outer resuck like normal

Tuesday KT vs J2 (only had 60k, BB already in for 30)
KJ8 flop, blank turn, river jack

2 Thursdays ago
Black aces vs AKos with ace of diamonds, huge overplay from AK 3bet rip for 400k and I was relatively deep with 250k at 10kbbs.

Diamond Diamond Diamond Diamond, 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Then 2 Saturdays ago
Only time I was behind
AJ of diamonds all in for 85k 20kbbs, BB calls with jacks, I hit ace of clubs with 73 of diamonds, she hits case jack on the turn and I can't find another diamond or ace on the river like normal...

Made the $ in SA's "best of the best" apl tournament coming 14th out of 156.

Quite an up and down torny... Was almost out before the first break but my pocket 7's hit on the flop... Then went on a good run and ended up with a nice stack before I went card dead... Did manage to limp along and win a few small pots here and there to get to 14th.

Quite happy with the day.

Nice mate, early day for me in Vics one

The one where I had tens beaten by 89 was ours

Couldn't win a pivotal flip 3 way all in last night, called 2/3s of my stack off (180k vs 124k) with AQ vs loose player and even though I was behind I wasn't too far behind up against a pair and a short stack A9 suited in the BB (60k) just before 2nd break.

Bloke who jammed first for 2/3s of my stack had 7s and was acting like he had kings or aces and they held up against all the straight outs with 2 cards to come, counterfeit outs on the river and pair outs, **** me...

Did get 2 double ups after the break and lasted til 30-60kbbs, but damage was largely done then. How many more do I go through before run good again 🤔 getting sucked out on all the time then get a 50-50 and a chance for 2 bounties, still don't get it...

Played 2 games tonight

First game, limp/call raise with 23 suited, last hand before 1st break, really card dead, have not won a hand for the first hour.

Nitty old bird raises 6k, gets 4 callers, I flop a straight flush wheel draw, I check to her, she bets 15k (likely has AK/AQ) me and another guy call, I hit my wheel on the turn, check to her, she pumps up the pot to 20k, bloke calls, I rip it as I only have a pot sized bet left behind, she folds and he calls. He has a flopped set of 9s and like usual, hits the full house on the river with a board pairing 4 to send me packing...

Second game, running along hovering around start stack, get AQ 2/4Kbbs, raise to 12k, only BB calls, board AJ9 rainbow, he checks, I rip it as I only have 40k behind, he tanks for a minute and makes a **** it call with J8, binks another jack on the turn and like normal the river does absolutely nothing to bail me out ffs... 6 of my last 11 games I've copped some very ordinary ones/absolute shockers

This time last year I was running bad, but I'd cop the bad beats later in the night, usually bubbling for the money or thereabouts, getting killed off early during this 11 game stinkfest

Played team event with a mate - very solid player who I trust implicitly

I had a bad session where I lost 50k in 2 hands to what I believe was a turned set of 6s to my pocket Tens and a 2 pair flop QT to my KQ

So the instruction was to rip it and double up or rebuy

We rebuy

Get our 60k stack and I quickly build it to 75 in my orbit and handover

2 players ''confer'' and I'm sitting there saying '' nah we would never confer I trust him or I wouldnt have chosen him'' blah blah only to look over at him shoving 70k over to another player

Gulp

I look at the board to see an overtuned A2 on a 35Q flop 4 turn and K river - A2 was my mans

Which lost to 67

So we have 4.5k left and yeah not good get a triple up and its Final Table and we sit in the dealers seat with 14k

A couple of hands later he calls me over and shows me A3d UTG and I screw my face up but he shoves

I walk away with stink face on and he gets BB calling with 9T and hits 2 pair - beauty

We swap over and I get a double up on a KJ hand with a KJ flop

Then another with KK v QQ and a K on the flop

Pocket 8s and I have to consider shoving which is the standard shortish stack play but decide to call the 20k bet because this player can be pushed off a pot - flop is 434 - I check and they bet 20k and I jam and they fold - some nice chips

Sitting back there is a 3 way all in and somehow from our small stack we find ourselves in the money and giggling like gits

Long story short we fall short for 2nd place and a fun night which shows you should never give up and keep shoving A3 :D

How ya going? You still in? 🤞🤞
Sorry for the lack of response. No time when I was still in Vegas and then I picked something up travelling home which floored me for a few weeks.

Unfortunately, I got knocked out of the Main Event late on day 2. I cashed in two other events (not WSOP) which brought me to a total of just over $12K USD in winnings for the trip, which helped offset some of the costs.
