Any substance to that right off Blue Ball ? Like I said have it on very good authority that this has happened. Rob Ward already knows about it. As does AFL Victoria and Peter Schwab. Sunbury are just breaking the ice with the other teams to follow. Sunbury were looking at the EDFL but could not get support from Juniors so they have approached the RDFL as they and the other teams are not happy with the way they are being treated in the BFL.

Spot on footballtragic. It is becoming more likely that a six-side competition comprising Sunbury, Darley, Melton South, Melton, Wallan and Gisborne could be up and running soon. In time that would grow to become a two-division RDFL.

Its Rod dude.

I hope it does happen, the BFL will then appreciate what has been lost. It can go back to the disgraceful competition it was before the East sides came in.

I would have said that 5-10 years ago, but arnt 3 of the top 4 from the Ballarat region to date.
And what caused their improvement? The East sides set a precedent of what standard the BFL should be.
The Ballarat sides had to do something or they would have folded or merged. It only took them 5 or 6 years to catch up. Daylesford couldnt keep up, and East & Point merged.

enough about that nonsence bout sunbury lets focus on the great shane fisher a true pioneer of the game hes got all the characteristics of the great fonzeralli hes slick cool under pressure and turns heads were ever this champion goes he just takes it all in his stride east wouldnt be half the side they are if it wasnt for this champion

Why would those teams want to go back and play in a 3rd rate competition playing each side 3 times a year minimum. Would struggle to attract quality players to that competition. It would then diminish to teh league it was. Boring playing the same teams over and over. Wallan is further away than Ballarat, not up to standard (low in Div 2) and a poo ground.

The BFL is a very strong Div 1 country league and i would think it highly unlikely that sides would leave. Better standard of footy and thats what players play for. The BFL should be actively chasing Gisborne to join their league. Its only 1 hour from Gisborne to Ballarat which is closer than Bendigo?

Sunbury would be mad to go there instead of the Essendon if in fact they do move. Realistically you travel 5 times a year up the road. The EDFL is a good standard as well though.

Totally agree and is why the league almost won the Country Title because the league has improved because of the standard it has reached. This standard has attracted former AFL/VFL players from North Ballarat & Melbourne to play in it instead of them going straight to the minor leagues.

The biggest concern for the BFL is the lack of crowds. Where have they gone???

Top 6 now done and dusted. the prelude is the week before finals where top 6 all play each other. which might give a team some hope as they go into finals.
Last week showed that East are the real deal and wil improve with Hutchy due back possibly this week. (so yu can add 5 goals to any score East have kicked in the last 6 weeks)
Sunbury are the real threat and decided to have a week off last week after winning by 10 goals plus the previous month.
Redan will improve with the Roosters players retruning, come to think of it there are more roosters playing at Redan than at North Ballarat. They will improve Paul McMahon will be the BIG watch through finals.
Ballarat are the true front runners, gets tough they go missin'. having said that if they get there way they will be handful not sure if they can win 4 in a row.
Melton South ordinary midfield couple of good forwards who are hard to match up, suspect back line, so if dont win footy will put the cue in rack after first week.
Melton this team is the mystery box, when bad they are just that, when good it's the Ash Webber show. with luck may play 2 finals but that would be it.

In summary FINALS
Week 1 East, Redan and Ballarat
Week 2 East, Sunbury
Week 3 Sunbury
Grand final East.

What Rooster players would be eligble to play with Redan come finals?? Not sure there is any Rubba. They need to have played at least 3 games for Redan to qualify.

Thanks, had forgotten bout them.Didn't Micallef get injured playing with Roosters Sat? Does anyone know the severity of injury?

Micallef is out for the rest of the year with a knee.

also does east only have hutchy to add to its team from saturday???
redan will add horbury, pitt, blomley, cummins and nunn, with snibson and bridges possibilities which should see the match up alot closer next time.also dickinson will hopefully be over his glandular fever by finals and should have more of an impact around the ground when fully fit.

Redan are posers
there is noway they will beat the likes of east point, sunbury or ballarat

well said gault. dont' write the old redan boys off just yet. they are well overdue to have a full list to pick from and look out when they do. they took it right up to sunbury with up to five players out and did the same agianst east on the weekend. redan love september!

redan wont choke and have teh discipline to beat the front runners in East & Sunbury.
East & Sunbury are good if they get things their own way. As soon as it gets hard they disintegrate.

And you dont get any easy games in Finals.

Redans discipline will see them take it right up to east and sunbury come finals time if they are able to get a few more key players on the park
as for Ballarat they are a distant 4th in the premiership race IMO

Dear Claude Vinger Stroke,
you are kidding yourself in the past 4 years, actually you're right they are posers, they are in fact EXposers of the pretenders such as East, Sunbury and Ballarat.
Although thats probably hard on Sunbury as they at least get to the big show. the other clubs believe that they can but always fail to fire the shot. But East will make the grade this year.

Paul McMahon has qualified hasnt he?

can anyone clarify as to murrihy's future next year? there's been rumours circulating he may not continue?

There was an article in the Courier a while back that he was not going to coach Redan next year. I think Redan would be keen for him to continue in some capacity there, but I doubt he will play.
