good work chumpy getting around the traps over preaseason
any word on the other clubs you sound like your in the know ?

The Merging Dogs have flown in a chafe specialist from the US to help Hutchy with the burning sensation between his thighs. For those who don't know, Hutchy's chafe goes way beyond bike shorts and vaseline.

Let's hope that they can sort it out so that he is right to go round one.

What a joke! It just goes to show how pathetic some of the Ballarat sides can be. Accept the challenge of noth being in the comp and get on with it.

Exactly right Morning Herald.....good to see the sportsmanship shown by Melton Football Club, who have ( on their web site) wished them well and lets get on with it....

I've also heard that Dane Grenfell has been getting some serious air time and taking hangers over Sutts during warm up drills. Sutts don't like it one little bit either and was heard saying to another player "Who does this Grenfell guy think he is?".

Could be trouble at Panther land.

Bit hard for that to happen considering he hasn't trained there yet.

came to wrfl as the dane train left after 6-8 weeks as puffing billy dont think sutts has to worry

Anyone had a good look at the new points system?

I have a brief look at it, it appears to have worked in other leagues of similar stature so I can't see why the basic premise won't work in the BFL.

Good to see the BFL taking action to improve the evenness of the competition, it's been the league's achilles heel for a number of years now

Also, after reading ballarats presidents comments on the courier website, correct me if i'm wrong but is a refusal to play against north city on the cards?

I couldn't believe the comments by Manley in the courier .... Sounds like a scared old man after some publicity! He should focus his time and money on building the Ballarat Footy Club, and stop fighting a battle that can not be won. The reason why it cant be won is that everybody knows it is good for the league, North City and the community. And if Manley took a step back and used some smarts he would have seen that North City are all about developing there young players and the conditions dont really need to be there anyway because North have shown in the Bendigo League in the last 2 years that the pathway for the young guys is the culture and not recruiting heaps of VFL guys ect...

I guess my main concern is that the standard of the comp will go down. Redan have shown what building a relationship with players from a higher league can do, so to discourage that could be a backward step.

The points system will even the comp but will weaken the comp and go down hill, after looking at the points structure... East & Redan will hurt massively especially redan with bucket loads of Vfl & rebels players! Other leagues will benefit if BFL goes with point system it works in sunraysia league as they don't have a vfl club in there back yard.

Apparently the BFL have had a rethink and will allow North City FC to wear Black & White jumpers as they have been members of the league longer than the Darley FC.

Looks like Darley FC will be the Darley FC Hawks in 2008 and will wear brown & gold stripes.

Stay tuned for the announcement.

Can't have an each way bet on the issue though. North City are specifically prevented from developing that type of relationship with the VFL club so why shouldn't every other club have to feel some of that pain. If the clubs want carte blanche to sign whomever they desire from wherever then they have to allow that for all clubs. No?

The only issue with hat is that North City are entering the team into an already tight market with access to resources that outstrip the other Ballarat teams.
Contrary to some poster's beliefs, Redan pay under market rates for most of their players. I don't think that North City will adversly affect Redan's ability to attract players from North Ballarat who want to play in a successful team with their mates, so I have no problem with the restrictions phasing out over time.

and bacchus marsh will be wearing Fremantle colours, Melton South will wear fitzroy jumpers and sunbury will wear port adelaide colours.

Stupid post Sharpe Man.

Does anyone have any idea what will happen in terms of the draw now that there is 11 teams? It worked pretty well last year with 10 teams, everyone plays each team twice for 18 rounds. What will happen now that a bye will have to be introduced? Will it still stay at 18 rounds? Whatever the case it will make it pretty uneven I think. When is the fixture usually released? Will be pretty interesting to see what they come up with.

Next thing would be to introduce an 8-team finals system. :D

Mate hows it good for the league? Also not everybody thinks thats its good mate most clubs were against the idea except for your meltons and sunburys. It will weaken the BFL if anything mate because of north citys poor standard of football. And the only reason VFL players didnt play for north city is because they did not want to travel to bendigo and play in a losing side!

1. Will be good for the league because it will make the lower sides wake up to them self, the lower sides are scared because they know in the next 5 years North Will slowly be the club to beat, so North's inclusion will be the kickup the bum these clubs need inorder to improve because they will want to put North back in there box and will be trying alot harder to prove them self, and improved teams means a more competitive competition and a stronger league.

2. North City's poor standard of football?? What the??? North City will bring a better style of footy than your sebas, lakers, marsh, Darley and in the next few years they will be pushing the top teams...... In the long term North will ultimately ift the standard of the competition.

3. Fair enough some of the VFL boys didn't want to travel, but i still dont think North were chasing heaps of players to play, thats because they are about developing the young team and maybe adding 1 or 2 VFL players.

You really believe the egos at north (eg.Terry Hay, Horn Howard, John Orr) will allow them to be beaten??!!!! If they get beaten by some lower sides they will manipulate the rules to get the players required to meet their premiership expectations. As for developing players what a croc of s**t as north are renowned for only playing the best players.

here here i applaude this... norths ego's are that far up themselves, they need to take a shit for it to come out and start again. as soon as north stop trying to recruit good players away from other clubs, and stop telling kids lies that the need to be there in order to come under notice of rebel /vfl coaches other clubs might not have these opinions.
the decision to allow north city in the bfl is only welcomed by players and committee at nth city and not ballarat... sorry

Obviously you have not been around the players/staff/supporters of North City, they have created there own culture down there, as a bendigo football league supporter i have followed North with a keen eye, and to say they have ego's is to say that Britney Spears is not on drug's, it has just not been seen. Sure North may have had a culture of having big Ego's years ago, but look at all these clubs throwing money at players especially young players and giving them unreachable incentives and using this to manipulate them!
Time will tell and i think your tune will change! or maybe not! Alot of people have got preconceived hate for North in general and are unwilling to look at the culture North City has made for its self! Times change stop being sore losers!
