bands you hated at first, then loved..

Probably the biggest would be Wolfmother. Thought they sounded too much like everything else at the time, and HATED Apple Tree. Got hit by White Unicorn, heard the album somewhere and quite liked it. Grabbed it and liked it enough. I wouldn't say I love them but it was a solid disc, except Apple Tree, I still hate that chorus good and proper.
Then Guns N' Roses. Never really listened to em much but would have said I didn't like em. That was due to lack of knowledge rather than dislike I think, love em to death now.

God I hated the Killers. I hated Somebody Told Me. I just hated that song. And then A friend gave me the album, and im in love with it now. Cept I still hate Somebody Told Me. lol

my all time favourite band is At the Drive In but the fact is that I hated them at first. I bought their album Relationship of Command after hearing good word about it but when I first heard them I thought they totally sucked. The sad fact was that I was only 16-17 and still going through the whole Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park phase... I wasn't ready for their intelligent rock... fast forward two years and on a lark I listened to their cd and I realised what a kick ass band they were, sadly in the time it had taken me to mature and appreciate their greatness ATDI had broken up...

Bloc Party

man i hated this band at first, just couldnt get into them.i thought they were just one of those pretty boy, fashion based bands.but after a good year,i finaly come around to liking them heaps.silent alarm has hade plenty of time in my stereo over the last few months.I think the turning point was when i saw a few live videos of them one night, the realy do cut it live, super intense, fast playing.the drummer is mad machine:thumbsu: and the singer has one of the most unique voices going around.much respect, one of the few shinning lights in the pommy music scene i rekon now:)

talk about bands you hated, then loved here.
PS: this would never happen to me with a band like the killers, utter ****!
Bloc Party are f*cking awesome :thumbsu:

Funny thing is, I avoided Big Day Out the year ATDI played because Limp Bizkit were headlining, and I wasn't interested in being surrounded by nu-metal d*ckheads.

Saw ATDI at the HiFi Bar side show and had a blast...even had a quick chat with Omar at the bar before they went on...unfortunately, never got the chance to see them again after that.

The Rapture - Echoes

After reading the rave reviews I decided to pick it up. Boy did this seem a mistake at first. The lead singer must have one of the most annoying whiney voices out there. Near the end of the first song Olio, when the guy sings the lyrics "over and over and over again" over and over again, I wanted to burn the cd and go out look for any person that looked like a music journalist and punch them in the face!!!. (it didn't help that the second song consisted of the lyrics "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 I'm floating in a constant heaven" twice, a barrage of noise and then that annoying whiney voice again). I saw their live performance on Letterman...and they sounded out of tune and the lead singer sounded even more annoyingly whiney.

Cut the story short, I heard their single "House of Jealous Lovers" on triple J a couple months later, changed my mind and gave it another chance. (The key is to think of it as partaking in S&M, the whiney voice hurts your ears, but the backing music softens the torture. Pain and Pleasure :p)

Same deal with Arcade fire, Clap your hand Say Yeah Yeah, the Libertines, The Go! Team and M.I.A..

Some bands just take a long time to get rid of the annoyance factor and let their music gel in your head.
