It's a milestone, that's for sure. I wonder what the TV ratings will be like compared to some other recent ones. Will the crowd be just as good as last year? Geelong-Sydney and Collingwood-Brisbane both managed to get a true full house of 100,024.

For whatever reason, post COVID they appear to have stopped actually reporting official “attendance” when it comes to the GF.

They say there are 100,024 tickets issued (capacity) so they are simply reporting that number. But that’s tickets issued, not attendance.

There is no way every one of the 100,024 tickets is used. There are always emergencies that stop ticket holders from attending, and no-shows for other reasons.

I assume it’s a political statement aimed at always having the magical six-figure number, and also falsely assuring all those who missed out that there were no empty places that went to waste.

Yep, last year there was an empty seat next to me.

I said to the bloke in between - “that’s strange GF day and there is an empty seat between us.”

The guy said “I actually bought it for my wife, but sadly she passed away.”

I said “that’s terrible, really sorry to hear that, but isn’t there a family or friend to could have used the ticket?”

“No”, he said, “they are all at the funeral”

That makes a lot more sense than each and every one of the seats being filled. If we discount the post-2020 figures as unreliable, it seems you need a big four club playing to get one of the higher attendance figures (Richmond 2017, Collingwood 2018, Richmond 2019). The last MCG granny reported to be under 100,000 was 2016.

I assume Sydney will wear their home kit. Do Brisbane have to wear that terrible mostly-gold clash jumper, or would their home jumper with white shorts be enough of a contrast with Sydney's red and white?

I hope we stick it to them and we force them to wear their horrible mustard one.

We always wear our home kit unless for a special reason. Sydney's home kit does not clash with any other team.
