So here we are.... we seem to STILL struggle to get a target in the 50 other then Aker on the lead, and when we kick it to the pack, we are reguarly outmarked or sheparded away from the contest. We NEED the tall timber next year, there is no doubt about it. Every premiership side has had them.. Franklin, Mooney, Lynch, Hall, Brown, Treadrea, Lloyd.

Imagine being able to have someone outmuscle the best defender, allowing Gia, Cooney, Higgins and of course, Aker to crumb constantly, instead of try and take pack marks.

Imagine Callan Ward and Shaun Higgins hitting up Barry Hall on the lead, able to break away from the Full Back. Taking pack marks, breaking open the packs.

Hopefully im convincing you how good it would be to have Big Bad Bustling Barry Hall.

Where are we at with him, and how is he reacting to our "subtle" interest? Anyone have news on him?

Imagine him getting rubbed out for the GF after belting a good niggly defender.

He could be good value though for the half season he would play to help a young tall along ie good for development, not a flag.

Couldn't quite get a positive post out could you DR. Close though....keep working at it. :D

Hall's been there done that what are the chances he'll make that mistake again i say give him a 2nd chance  and plus if he did do it it wud be worth a laugh

Sorry I couldn't follow the groupthink now expected on this board, in place of any discussion or contrary views.

Funny really, because living in Sydney I know more about Hall than the rest of you - our papers generally only have Swans news and his problems have been covered to death up here from various angles over the past couple of years.

And then there's the fitness/ageing body Aker factor - remember Aker's first season with us after being half a year out of footy?

But carry on, you're right. He'll suddenly change when he goes south, lay off the biff and play every game for us next season. He won't even give away a free and be as fit as a fiddle and we'll surely win the flag.

Is that better?

course we can still do it this year, but lets look at next year and the future....

I also left off how he can help develop our young KPP, by having the play by his side, taking lesser defenders, not being intimidated by the opposition. Grant, Jones, Cordy, Roughead, Boumann, whoever can play up forward would be better off in the long run.

I don't think Hall is the answer, we do need a key forward but at his age too many other factors can come into play. It would be our luck he would do a hammy in round one and miss the next 6 weeks trying to get over it, come back lose his cool and get suspended for 4 weeks, come back do a quad and miss 3 weeks, so on and so on.
I know the pool is mighty thin but should we be blooding our youngsters?
I'm just not convinced his our answer.

Yep, you'll really be laughing if there's another Maguire incident during our 2010 PF win.

Only this time, he's not a Swan and won't get off.

I agree he would be useful for that.

Yep, a far more likely scenario. And every defender around him will be instructed to bait him mercilessly.

If it means we get into a grand final, he can punch anyone he wants. Some of us have been waiting longer than 10 years for that moment(not that it makes you any less of a fan).

I think we should look at getting Barry Hall. But this is probably seen as greedy, but I really think we need two power forwards rather than one. Personally, I would love to see Hall playing alongside Grant or another one of our KPF's. But another option is to get a proven forward from another club. Whatever we do, I think we need two KPF options, like Hawthorn have with Franklin and Roughy and St Kilda with Kosi and Riewoldt and Geelong with Hawkins and Mooney.

Even though I am on the "Get Hall to the Bulldogs" wagon,I would like to think that we don't become too Hall concious next year(if we get him). Okay we have a midget forward line this year which is our downfall, but the one advantage of our forward line is that we have multiple options. I wouldn't like us to go to the other extreme next year and become like Carlton with Fev where we go to Hall practically every time. It becomes too easy for the opposition to structure and defend against.

So yes, lets go after BBB, but

1)Try to keep developing our young KPP talent

and

2)Lets keep our forward line with multiple options rather than become one dimensional

I hate the political correctness of some of the self-appointed senior posters on this board DR. I was taking the piss a bit but you didn't get it (or didn't want to get it.)

Lighten up just occasionally ffs man or you will just explode! :p

No. Picking up Hall would be a disaster in my opinion:

-Too old. Best football is well behind him

-Missed most of this year (think of how long it took Aker to get back into the swing of things)

-has off field issues

-unlikely to play a full season due to injuries/suspensions

-lost trust in himself to play out the season with his teammates

-would cost money when we are struggling to keep our own players (anyone who thinks he is going to come back 'for the love of it' is kidding themselves)

-could harm unity within the team

-we only need one young player to stand up in the forward line next year

Well u tell me which Power forward we should go for then ?

Look the reality is that to get a decent power forward you have to give the world, that's providing that there are any that want to move. The Barry Hall of 3 years ago would have been great, but at 34...with his issues...i'm not so sure.

If we don't have to pay him much or give up anything decent....maybe.

I'd rather us build our own champion forward. You might be surprised when one of the young talls starts to make a mark. I think Roughhead will play regular footy for us next year. Jarred Grant also just might take the step...he's only 20. Cordy...might a bit further away but who knows. Boumann is showing some great signs. Liam Jones is another. Then whatever we pick up in the draft. If Hall comes....do we stifle the development of these young blokes?
