Hussey and Gilchrist thought the Melbourne Stars would chase that down at the change of innings.

The Stars need to play the remaining 7 games, and determine who wants to be there next season.

Im going to say it now, there needs to be a whole cleanout. Siddle, Cartwright, Sam Harper, Tom Rogers, Joe Clarke, Brody Couch, McKenzie, Joel Paris, Steketee, Campbell Kellaway, Jonathan Merlo. Harsh to say this- none of those guys would get gigs in other BBL sides. We have to remember this squad once recruited the likes of Spiceman Fletcher and Nic Maddison. No clue in the direction of hiring players.

Blood some Victorian youths.

To be fair to Stoinis, he played alright tonight and this season.

Changes need to be made, otherwise we will keep seeing this year in , year out. I am staggered that there weren't changes end of last season.

Stars were unlucky not to win a title in the early seasons and now are looking like a spoon team with zero titles.
Not a Stars fan but its getting to a stage now, where its a concern carrying the franchise who underperforms year in , year out. Feel a bit for the fans- and from their crowd attendance of 17k the other night in their first home game, its clear they are disenchanted the way this club is going.

Sam Konstas when he got his 50 the other night against Strikers, showed how proud he was by pumping the Thunder logo. None of these Stars have love for the club, I repeat None. Maybe Maxwell- but lets remember he was a former Renegade and has already accumulated millions worldwide. So for him, its pretty much him unwinding his career. You struggle to see who the next leader to take this club forward.

Peter Moores is the first one Id be looking to sack and then go from there.

Who’s the deadwood being held onto here? Cartwright? Rogers? Not much really.
Duckett, Webster, Curran all came in and good players. Milne, Warren new to the side.
Maxwell and Stoinis are international players.
Siddle was recently a striker, hardly his fault.

Too much focus on batting imo. It has always been like that from the Stars.

They’ve picked up a decent bowler here or there but it’s been a batting-led team for a while and certainly since Maxwell became captain.

They try to outhit and out score teams, which is ****ing stupid because a quick scan of BBL history will show you a Scorchers and Sixers domination built on the ability to restrict teams and defend low scores.

Curran is a half decent death bowler but who is getting them wickets in the power play. Or spinning teams to death in the middle overs.

It’s complete incompetence imo.

The Management has overseen this shit show - they need to go

Peter Moores is not the man to coach the Stars he can go as well.

Stoinis & Maxwell are continual underperforming high maintenance injury prone expensive cattle…ta ta

Pick a Eoin Morgan type and a well balanced, largely Victorian squad and add in what you need.

It’s not that hard

Agree they need to look and getting some Young Victorians in, first one is Harry Dixon from the Renegades, his not going to get a game with the Renegades stacked battling lineup up

Scorchers have been successful playing mainly homegrown players

There might be a year or couple years of pain but give them time , and im sure there will be more heart that what we are seeing at the moment.

I also understand that just blooding youths alone- isnt the road to success. Look at the Hawks this year in the footy as an example. Its not going to be an overnight success, its a road and progression.

The Scorchers, Sixers, Brisbane have mainly kept squads , some of those players have been there 10+ years and have the thirst to win more. They are willing to sacrifice themselves to achieve team success.

Put Kelleway in the top 3 too. Move on from the Ego Duo in Maxwell and Stoinis why one of these two are captain is half the problem. They play like they don’t care and Maxwell as handy as he is misses half the season every year.

I don't know about anybody else, but I watch these games to pretty much see individual players of interest I have no emotional connection to the Strikers or anyone else it's soulless in that regard.

Stoinis gets no important overs because he’s not good enough. But when he’s captain he’ll bowl himself in the power play.

Maxwell is a great player when it’s on his terms, but bring him in at 23/3 or thereabouts and he’s ****ing useless because he only plays at the one pace.

Completely agree with your point. If they are two of your most senior players your culture is in trouble. If they’re captaining/leading the team then the culture is non-existent.

It’s an absolute debacle.

Not sure who should captain though they lack an Ashton Turner type massively maybe Cartwright could not sure there. Alternatively get one from another side, Ashton Turner would be perfect at turning the culture around not sure he leaves Perth though

Bit of entertainment at night that’s about all. Tomorrow is good women’s ODI and two BBL games

Ben Duckett's catch is probably the 2nd best in BBL history.

Silk has the top 2 imo

There’s a few great ones to be honest. No one is beating Silk’s catch against the Heat back in the day though look it up on YT.
