Coutas easily Steve Owen bog and ammos 18 s easily full squad plus Dixon and wood

I was right!!!!!!! Fantastic result for all involved from Jamo down ,to see little kids and 80plus year olds all celebrating brings a tear to the eye.
Any truth to the rumor that Sam Clark was told to get his bag and leave and not come back?

I agree that there are issues in relation to discipline and genuine team orientation effecting Ammos,(remember that 2003 sniping against Ocean Grove) but anyone who saw this game knows that it was the Couta's small running players who put them to the sword. The Couta's coach said at 3/4 time, 'we will run them off their feet' and they did. Great team work ethic all day, great start to the game (first top speed, wrong foot pass from a young guy to the full forward followed by a great kick into the wind set the scene).

Well done Queenscliff - great team effort, great playing for your mates, and little blokes, take a bow.
This reflects what i said about poor coaching. This is exatly what happened last year when they were run over in the last quarter and they had the wind. Did not learn the lessons from the past. As i said poor coaching you are right the Qcliff running game was fantastic. Would doubt that happened with Clark being told to go, but funny if it was.

any news on whos in the mix for the Torquay coaching job?

After several weeks of trying to recruit a suitable candidate, Craig McCaughan - Sth Barwon premeirship player, was appointed our playing coach for 2012. He plays mainly across half back and a little thru midfield. Good guy, teacher who will bring on more kids and will hopefully bring quality players with him.

Stay tuned for official announcement over the weekend. It was confirmed last night

Go tigers

It does wonders for the spirit seeing Ammo's falter at the last hurdle again doesn't it?

Wins against your mob were few and far between in my day. The only one I recall was in round 1 mid 90's. You had us rattled in the first term, outscoring us 5 goals to 2. Enter B. Sutherland who bagged a lazy 14 (straight from memory) and we ran out 100 point winners.

Was a remarkable day.

I don't mean to bang on about one game, but I remember being on the wrong side of some terrific hidings from the Hawks!
Like you, I remember only too well being on the receiving end of a number of beltings not only from the Hawks, but the Lions, Grubbers, Demons, Seagulls, Blues, and, believe it or not... the Dino's - we were their bitch in the late 70's, and most of the 80s. How times have changed - it's likely we might boot 40 against them this weekend!
It was sweet revenge though to see the boys make it 3 on the trot last year against the Dale, not only to avenge our only defeat for the year in the semi, but to wipe out the disappointment of 1977 which was a horrid end to my first season. Trying to sneak the odd goal or two the following season when Mike Birrell was kicking everything was pretty rough for a small forward too...it's great to see the club doing so well now after the dark days of the 80s 90s and early 2000's. I'm sure many of us past players and long time club supporters have shed more than the odd tear at each of the last 3 GF's.

The Dinosaurs... I remember turning up to their home ground to play under 18's. And watch most of their team drive to the ground, lumber out on the field covered in tatts, and flog us by 20 goals. Minimum.
And while I've missed all 3 flags (living interstate), I remember talking to a couple of the boys after the first one and being quite emotional myself!
As you said, it's great to see the club experiencing success. A just reward for blokes like Keith Cohen, Dave Hedley, Bill Comerford and many others who've devoted so much of their time over the years.
Must have been hard to sneak a goal when Mike was on song. I remember my old man telling he kicked 20-odd in a game once. And I'm guessing we both would have played with "Squeak" Bench. Great player, top bloke, and a country version of Michael Tuck.

Yeah, I recall ' Squeak ' . Great bloke. Another top bloke I recall from my days as a player is Rhett Stephens, when I was back in town in May this year it was a real eye opener to go for a meal at the new club rooms and have his daughter wait on me at my table, all grown up...talk about a reality check!!
Like you I am now back interstate ( in SA ) and have missed the last 3 flags but kept in constant touch with the club via internet and family still in Melbourne. The drought breaker in 2011 was so emotional.. my poor wife ( SA born and bred ) couldn't understand my emotion for a club 800 km away!
So far removed from my days at the club, when regular beltings were the order of the day and Johnny Farrell stripping the paint off the walls was second nature in the latter years:( Then when I got cleared to Werribee in the VFA in 1985, it was more of the same!
Your old man would be right about MB, I recall him booting some huge bags in my days especially in '78 and '84 ( I think ). I particularly recall one day at the Couta Bowl in 1978 against Leopold, one of those real windy days, and we were kicking to the Lighthouse End ( Hesse St ), we came storming home and the ball was coming down consistently - I'm doing the right thing and hovering front and square, licking my chops because of the wind - but Mike just plucked everything and booted about 8 in the quarter.
Was actually a bit of memory lane stuff when I was back in May this year - Frenchy ( Daniel DeGois ) has a similar presence about him and is ripping it up in the goalkicking this year. Just spewing I didn't get to see Eddie Grout play as well due to his knee injury.
