What a little champion!

I guess I'm making this thread so we can bump it in a few years time and see how his career panned out.

Set an AFL record in his 3rd game: 7 goals and 10 tackles.

Does he have the skillset to become a star midfielder or small forward? Or will that game be the ultimate one hit wonder?

Either way, he seems like a genuine guy. Thrown straight into the interviews last night and he handled it pretty well.

I predict he will be the best player in the league in five years because...um...that's what people say in these threads.

He had a cracking game last night but lots of development still in front of him. He's predominantly a mid but his pressure in front of goals is top notch so hope he could be a gun small forward for us if he keeps the upwards trajectory going.

Hurts me to say it because of who it was against, but his effort last night was brilliant, what a gem.

7 goals is 7 goals, but I bet my arse Horse would have been even more impressed by his effort than his output, 10 tackles from a 3rd gamer (not to mention his pressure and tackle breaking ability with ball in hand) or however many he has played, in a big game, is something to hang your hat on.

Well played kid.

small bloke, 7 goals and 10 tackles- the prototypical forward in the Hardwick model which won a premiership last year. Swans have got a beauty.

I was a bit put out by how much ch he just sounded like the generic 150 game footballer. Surely a 2nd year rookie hasn’t been put through hours of media training?

Won the Calder B&F from limited games in his draft year, pretty much got drafted out of the VAFA u/19's comp in 2016.

He was being himself, it was good.

I thought he just gave the usual ‘yeah nah I just try to base my game on pressure and tackling and if the goals come it’s akways a bonus but I was just trying to play my role for the team and full credit to Hawthorn we know they’re a great club so we were always going to have to put in a four quarter effort and yeah nah it was just great to get the four points’.

But I only saw the Richo interview on the ground.

I was out for the first half and checked the scores in the 2nd quarter and was thinking 'Who the **** is Ben Ronke?' when I saw that he had kicked Sydney's first 5 goals. Was thinking maybe a rookie big key forward replacing Buddy

When I started watching the game in the 2nd half and I saw who he was for the first time I had a bigger 'WTF?' he's a small forward?

Well done to the kid, big stage, big opponent - smashed it

Though you'd have to say there is a risk he has peaked on a personal performance in game 3?
