Well, we seem to have covered Best Song, and Best Gig off 2003, so I guess this is a natural progression ... if it hasn't been done already, that is. (I'm sure it probably has)

I'll throw a few into the ring for starters.

Living Colour - Collide0scope
Janes Addiction - Strays
(who'd have thought in 1993 we'd have these two in our lists at all in 2003 !!!)

Nebula - Atomic Ritual
Strokes - Room On Fire
Mars Volta - DeLoused ...

My top ten are:

1:Living End, Modern Artillary
2: The Best of REM 1988- 2003
3:Linkin Park Meteora
4:Metallica - st anger
5: The Offsring cd(cant remembertitle)
6:Blink 182's cd
7:Linkin Park Live in texas
8: Live, Birds of prey
9: Jets cd
10: The White stripes , elephant

I haven't bought many CDs this year, certainly not many new releases, but there are three that I think deserve a mention.

Black Majesty - Sands of Time (great debut release by an Australian band who is starting to crack it in Europe. The metal scene over there seems very impressed by them, and the album has been getting great reviews. Haven't seen anything less than a 9/10.)

Uli Jon Roth - Metamorphosis (re-working of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, on his 30-fret, 7-string guitar.)

Iron Maiden - Dance of Death (re-establishing themselves with another very strong album after some fairly drab and disappointing efforts in the 90s.)

I bought alot of cd's this year, but the 3 that stood out were:

Muse - Absolution. I hope this band release another 10 albums. Brilliant album, brilliant band.

OutKast - Speakerboxx/The Love Below. A master piece.

Deftones - Self Titled. All you kids who like your metal "nu" and think Linkin Park and Evanecence are what its all about, listen to this band and this album. It will make your psuedo heros look like the early rounds of an Australian Idol contest.

A special mention to Magic Dirt's Tough Love. I dont care what my mates say to me, this album is bloody grouse!

Blackout - Dropkick Murphys

Their most polished outing yet, still plenty of grit and passion amongst their songs. Their cover of The Fields of Athenry is IMO the best of their traditional Irish covers. Buried Alive is one of my songs of the year.

varied from rock to metal.

Skid Row - Thick Skin

Pride of Lions - Pride of Lions

Shugaazer - Shift

Dream Theater - Train of Thought

Black Majesty - Sands of Time

Waltham - Permission to Build

Feeder - s/t

Lynch Pilson - Wicked Underground

I much prefer their earlier stuff. There are some decent tracks spread over the discs but there were also some shockers.

Thread shows how in vogue garage rock was in the early 00's

OutKast - Speakerboxx/The Love Below

Everything else is inferior.

Such a big album.

Loved this album my the new pornographers. Canadian supergroup of sorts...and Neko Case.

Surprised Blur's Think Tank album hasn't got a mention in this thread, probably Blur's best album and the lead single was one of my favourite songs of 2003.

The Panics debut album 'A House on a Street in a Town I'm From' was another great album from that year.
