I think alot of those old boxes are re-printed old cards as opposed to ones that have just been found somewhere.Bought a sealed box of 93/94 Skybox Premium off eBay for around $100 during covid. Probably should get all the inserts graded, seems to be the way it's all going now.
Pretty sure that's not the case..I think alot of those old boxes are re-printed old cards as opposed to ones that have just been found somewhere.
They did that with some of the old AFL series as well (mid 90's).
I've got the folder. I'm nothing if not organised.
About 10 years ago a bunch of mates and I decided to have a piss up at home and everyone had to bring a box of basketball cards. Doing a search on eBay at the time, I couldn't believe it: you could get a lot of those early 90s boxes, still sealed, for like $30-40. Can't recall exactly how much, but I got a box of Fleer Ultras from 1994 and I'm positive I wouldn't have paid more than $50, i just wanted as many packs as possible to crack open and make jokes about the players, wasn't fussed about the going value of them. Others bought boxes from the (then) modern era, which only had like four cards in a pack and a lot of the packs had this cardboard packing junk in it, because the special cards contain a patch of a player's game worn uniform, so they had to hide it so you couldn't tell from the outside which packs had the prized cards.
Such a great day, highly recommend if those bargains can still be had on eBay, although considering those boxes were probably like $130-150 when they were first released, you probably shouldn't expect to get rich from it.
Memories... ah... apologies to those who weren't obsessed with basketball cards 30 years ago for the slight derailing.
Yeah I had a quick look on eBay at the going rate following this discussion and looked to me like the days of getting those 30 year old boxes for the equivalent of about a buck a pack were long gone.Check out on YouTube the abandoned Cadillac plant in Detroit.
It was used to store early 90’s trading cards as a result of the explosion in popularity and there are thousands of unopened boxes still sitting there wasting away in the elements. It’s not hard to imagine somebody just taking them for the purpose of selling them online.
Currently got a box of Upper Deck 93/94 that me and a couple of mates will be opening soonAbout 10 years ago a bunch of mates and I decided to have a piss up at home and everyone had to bring a box of basketball cards. I wonder what May have happened.Gawn was seen enjoying himself vocally at melbourne's xmas break up party days after their last training session, which got a bit "rowdy", before MFC's statement about fracturing his voice box at training which was several days before the break up
Or he fesses up it was his wife who got access and wanted to shame him and the gf
I wonder what May have happened.
Does it really matter now as it's the same result. Do the AFL know the truth? Probably. So what is Carlton and the AFL not really saying about Luke Sayers and his sudden resignation from the Board despite not doing anything??
I really wonder what the AFL Integrity Unit does in these situations as part of their investigations? Are they skilled in IT forensics and have access to Sayers Phone/Laptop and X Account to map IP locations/dates/times to confirm it was definitely not his actions and a rogue operator. Was he drinking with mates, or in bed reading a Gladwell book? If so, then produce this level of detail and be transparent with the public.
Or do they pull out this extra big AFL broom that specializes in sweeping blame and accountability under carpets for the old boys network? I am pretty sure the 101 PR Playbook these days for anyone who does something dumb on social media is “My Account was compromised”.
Unless his wife went completely insane then the only reason she would post that from his account is because she caught him cheating with that woman, and if the president of an AFL club is having an affair with an executive of a club sponsor, then yes it does matter.Does it really matter now as it's the same result. Do the AFL know the truth? Probably.
If it was his wife then the AFL couldn't really act on that anyway. If it was him you probably let him stand down and let him and his family deal with the fallout themselves. Do the AFL really need to help the media in this case.
Melbourne is just a playground for grown up children and once you throw in the biggest thing in town, football, that generates heaps of attention and money then it's going to result in all these people sleeping together.Unless his wife went completely insane then the only reason she would post that from his account is because she caught him cheating with that woman, and if the president of an AFL club is having an affair with an executive of a club sponsor, then yes it does matter.
I don't think that at all. What I do think is that if the leader of a club is jeopardising the club's reputation and financials because he can't keep his dick in his pants, then he should be named and shamed.Melbourne is just a playground for grown up children and once you throw in the biggest thing in town, football, that generates heaps of attention and money then it's going to result in all these people sleeping together.
These people might have cash and clout but they're total buffoons, if you think some clown who is head of an AFL club is Einstein and Orwell rolled into a non-cheating one, then I have some magic beans to sell you. and that's stocks in Fremantle FC.
This shit happens all the time, men and women in an exciting industry with power imbalances, the only issue is he was dumb enough to get caught (because a lot of wealthy people are actually really dumb).I don't think that at all.
